Details are spotty, wife said the car started smoking and all the lights flashing. Someone told her to pull over cause stuff was coming out of the bottom. She said she hear the sound of liquid coming out.

Just had an oil change, a T Hose and an O2 censor replaced. Looks like maybe it was this THose there is white spray all over. How bad is this?

This is the location of the T-hose that blew.

Definitel looks like a cracked heater T -- and the "white" dried residue is definitely coolant that sprayed up top and dribbled down the engine.

I doubt the engine is seized though. I'd get new heater T's and hoses, give it a good flush, and you should be good to go.
Mileage????

Truck stopped running, I'm on the side of the road with it now. if they fix the hose and refill coolant do you think it'll be OK? I just want to make sure the garage that did this takes full responsibility.

That sure looks like a heater T failure resulting in complete loss of coolant. That one T looks corroded as all get out. I wouldn't attempt to start that vehicle just in case the engine didn't get any terminal damage.

Did they replace the rear heater Ts or hoses? Looks like aftermarket clamps. Have it towed

Replace the hoses AND Ts, refill with coolant and hope the coolant came out like a fan spray and didnt overheat the engine.

They replaced just the one T, he said the part was from a Toyota dealer so maybe just a bad install.

They tried to come pick it up with a regular tow truck, I said no no, flatbed!

Those hoses look a little big on the heater t. Looks almost like they compensated with worm clamps that didn't seal up enough and the coolant leaked past.

I'm in agreement with bamabrock on the "do not drive it" sentiment. Also, any shop should know to send a flatbed for an LC.

Clamps were definitely put on wrong. In the photo where you can see both heater tees, notice the clamp positioning on the one that's still factory and not blown past. Those clamps are correctly placed almost at the T junction. The worm clamps are put on over the "barb" at the end of the t resulting in a very bad seal. I'd say this is a mechanic error.

That engine bay looks like it has got very hot, all that white residue on the battery tray shows there was a lot of heat involved. I personally wouldn't feel to optimistic but I wish you have a good outcome.

Which one did they replace? Unless they replaced them both or documented which one they replaced I think you're outta luck.

The other t looks like it's factory, the t looks original, the clamps look factory, pointing down.

I'm wishing you luck, don't get me wrong. I just think this is going to be impossible to prove it was their fault.

Years ago I took my Oldsmobile in to get the transmission fluid and filter changed, got it back, went home, loaded the car, we left for vacation the next morning.
Transmission started shifting funny, we were 3hrs from home. The car had 60,000 miles on it, we bought it brand new.
Pulled into a gas station, pulled transmission dip stick, dry as a bone.
Bought fluid, added enough to bring it to full, saved bottles and recipet.
After vacation, went back to the shop, you didn't put enough fluid in, they said prove it.
Showed them the bottles, they looked at the work order, it was not itemized, it only said "trans service"
I was out a transmission.
So thats why I say it is going to be impossible for you to prove it was their fault, thats a lot of money for them to pony up. More than the transmission for a Oldsmobile.

Why would they replace one heater T?

This is precisely why the only people that touch my LX are myself, a fellow mudder with knowledge of the vehicle or a mechanic that specializes on LandCruisers. Anyone else can pound sand. It seems anything I've ever needed to know can be found in this forum.
