Looks like this is going to be a snow run.....

First one of the year. Whoopeeeeeeeee. NOT!

When has the weatherman ever been right?

Maybe it will only be a dusting and you'll be wheeling in a little mud here and there.

On the other hand, I can't see Mt. Rose right now, so it might dump on us for the next two days...

Looks like there might even be a little snow left in the shady areas up there.

The peaks south of Carson look pretty white this afternoon. I think you guys are going to have a lot of fun. Too bad I'll be stuck at home all day...

Hwy 4 is closed from ebetts pass to 207 today. That puts a damper on this trip. It will probably be opened back up by Sat. Didn't check Blue lakes road. Sometimes they close the upper gate when it snows rather than clearing it.

Just FYI--Friends of Fordyce is having a work party on winch hill 3, 4 and 5 with a BBQ after wards at meadow. Maybe I can get back on that trail this year.:bounce::hmm:

Regardles of what happens I need to be on pavement by 2:00 so I can see the wolfpack beat up on UNLV:D.

Lets have some ideas? and who's doing what????

11:00 am Thursday--At this time Blue Lakes road is open

I think I may take a pass on this one, I don't want to take the 60 through again and I don't want to destroy the soft top on the 40.

Hunter Lake?

I'm not going to make this run. I've some obligations with my folks I have to take care this weekend:bang:

Me neither...coming down home stretch with my OBAv2 project. And I should make a run to pick and pull. Or Rusty's driveway  :D. Don't be mad at me Rusty if your radiator fan comes up missing on your crown vic

OK, then looks I'm the lone dog.

I am heading for Fordyce to work on the trail with FOF and maybe play around on the trail a bit. Meeting at Meadow Lake at 9:00 Sat. for the work party. Everyone is welcome and we will be working near and on #5 and #4 winch hills. They are also looking for a solution to the bypass on #3.The BBQ is that night but I'll be at the Nevada game by then.

Sierra Stompers are also running the trail this weekend and will be camping at meadow Sat. night.

Dan,
I may be late with this, but I have a Taurus fan if you want it.

Lemme know. It's just sitting in my garage since I decided to go with the mech. Fan.

Mark... Next year my friend, you will have a partner to roll with consistently. I'll be lookin to wheel a LOT!!!!

Thanks Keith but I'm on the hunt for either a taxi or police '06-'10 Crown Vic (or Merc/Lincoln counterpart) fan unit. Super air flow from those per what a guy I know that is using one relayed to me...and Jack confirmed ;)

How big is that fan youre looking for???
Is that wired to the ignition, or is it operated off a temp switch?
What is it's function???

Wired to ignition, temp sensor and A/C unit. Its to replace the power and gas robbing 10,000cst'd OEM fan and fan clutch. I was having a problem keeping the engine cool enough on hot days while crawling around Utah a couple years ago with the A/C on so following a lead from the 80-Series forum I upped the viscosity of the fan clutch fluid. Did its job. But the fan stays locked up to about 35-40mph.

So this fan has enough pull (40 amps) to be able to keep the motor temps under control but with zero hp and mpg loss. And safer fan deep water crossings :D

And in fact they are 2-speed but looks like the ECU on the Ford's tells the relay box when to use either speed. So more than likely it will just be wired up for the higher speed.

Ahhhhh. Nice!
I hadn't realized you were having cooling issues with that rig and thought you might be doing something creative for you oba set up that needed super cooling.

We did a quick run part way up Hunter Lake trail, Joe got a chance to flex his jeep a bit in the ditches and break a front brake line. Got him home safe.

Mark; How was the game? We caught part of the 4th quarter at the pizza place, looked like UNR was smoking UNLV.

Thanks Kieth--Looking forward to it!!..Must feed my addiction. Minimum of 1 Rubicon and 1 full fordyce and then all the rest we usually do.

Talking with some of the FOF guys they agreed that the trail is getting harder. They had all buggies and came in from the bottom...Bret even had a trailer...UNREAL TO MAKE THAT TRAIL WITH 1 TO 2 FEET OF SNOW ON IT!!

The Game was good even tho a little one-sided. 37-0. Glad it wasn't the other way around. I enjoyed going and my :princess: likes it also. Something we have in common. She doesn't like camping or wheeling much unless it's a tame trail and home for the night.

Glad to hear Joe got out with the rig. It is always good to break those little things close to home--get the bugs out before the major trails. How did his t-case hold up?
