Well it’s been about a year since I purchased my 2004 LX with 125k miles and now at 135k miles I have nothing but good news to report, the LX has been rock solid.

I purchased Techstream software and cable so I could level the AHC and keep the hydraulic line pressures within factory specifications. I was able to adjust the height and line pressure on the front-end by adjusting the torsion bars, however on the rear-end I needed new springs at $400 to bring the rear hydraulic line pressure back to factory spec. Since they were doing the rear springs I had them do the CV boots up front because there was a slight seeping of grease around the edges on one side but the boot was still perfectly intact and probably would have lasted quite a while longer. I got my oil changed and tires rotated too all at the same time for about $1,200.

So total cost of ownership for the year was really just the oil change because I wouldn’t think you’d factor the cost of mods. Oh, and the new chrome LX570 wheels and tires cost me $2k.

Nice pick up and welcome to 'Mud.

My 2000 LX was not handling well after 13 years on the road and a few years of pulling a heavy boat. So a few years ago I replaced the rear springs, changed out the AHC fluid, and adjusted the torsion bars. Now the thing handles like new. Ogjohnsmith, welcome, and you should definitely do the AHC fluid change if you don't know when that was last done on your rig. Excellent write up here on 'mud on procedure.

10 years from now I will have around 200k miles on my beast. Guess I will have to do timing belt and water pump. But by then I will be 77 years old or dead so I know it will be cheaper to fix and service my beast along the way then buy some POS common vehicle that has no class and looks like crap. My 100 has character, just like its owner ;)

I thought high mileage was 250-300k
My first, new LC/99 and now fathers is above 300k and running strong. Regular oil changes, timing belt, water pump, and plugs every 100k will keep these rigs trouble free. Tires, Batteries, and wiper blades, along with maintenance has been the only expenses. The ride is still very good, but I think it might be time for new shocks on my dads hundy, lol, but my dads thinks it's fine. Very low cost of ownership over the course of 16 years.
