Why do you say Tokicos are not a 100% match?
Can’t really explain, mostly because I’m not a suspension expert and I don’t know the terminology, also there wasn’t a real problem or anything, but it did feel like the shock and springs were fighting each other in a tug war, and made the ride weird, not bad or uncomfortable, just weird in certain situations.
I got used to it or they got tired of fighting, it feels normal now.

Ah, I misunderstood, thought you were saying the Tokico shocks were not a match for Toyota shocks. It's entirely possible that the shocks are not a perfect match for the OME 2865 springs, though I do think it's a popular combination.

Yup, Tokico meaning OEM which I believe they still are.. they might use others suppliers as well, not sure.

Need help. Most YouTube sawzall this rear shocks. But I am trying to loosen the nut.

Can someone tell me if this is 22mm or 21mm?

Also does the wing with the two 12mm stays with the shocks or do they come off?

My 21mm socket driver doesn't fit. So I will try racheting wrench.. but I don't have 21mm or 22mm

And I wouldn't trust myself with a sawzall. I think I will loose my finger.. unless I am defeated 😕 then I will have to buy a sawzall

Tried this type of channel lock but still not strong enough bite to keep the shaft from spinning. I got a good lock on the nut and shockingly its 19mm

tried cutting the shaft where the rubber bushing sits not getting luck either. I think its my crappy chinese tool
Also the rubber bushing is squished good collapsed beyond you believe there's barely any gap for the blade to touch the shock

What's your next move? Bigger sawzall? Or different type of channel lock?

I recently replaced OME shocks with Dobinson. Have OME springs. Ride is HARSH. May try out OEM shocks if there is enough travel.

Your friend is incorrect. OME 2865 springs and OE Toyota shocks are a great combination that I and many others are running. The Toyota shocks have plenty of travel for a modest lift.
I’m thinking this is the combination for me as I intend for this truck to be a family touring car and DD with some mild off roading and camping. I only plan on a front bumper with winch and a low profile roof rack as static weight. I don’t want a super tall and heavy rig, just a slight lift and bigger tires and hopefully retain most of the stock ride quality if possible.

Is this an appropriate suspension combo for these applications and what size K02 tire will fit?

I’m really starting to go crazy researching all the suspension options so any insight will be appreciated.

My oem toyota shocks will come in a few days i will let you know in 2 weeks time hopefully I managed to get it installed

But if you search in this forum you will see plenty of data points to show that oem toyota shocks is the best for plush ride

Remember the spring rate does not 100% determine harshnes of the ride .. mostly the dampening (which is the shocks) will make a ride harsh or plush

More details? You just cranked them or you re-indexed them? If you re-indexed, by how much?
Sorry, just saw this. I did not need to re-index. Assuming yours haven’t been tightened before, you shouldn’t either.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think with bumper/winch in the front, some may consider aftermarket torsion bars to support the added weight.

Regarding "slight lift", consider OME 2860s. These springs are usually advertised as 2" lift with medium loads. This would give you some rake if you lift the front.

I know KO2s are popular, but I'd research other options as well. I remember some reviewers mentioning they weren't great on snow. KO3s are out as well if you wanted the newest. 285/75/16 is the size you'd want based on your intended use.

What you describe is almost exactly what my setup is. OME 2865 springs with factory shocks and torsions bars. I’m running and ARB with Apex which up front and only needed to crank the torsion bars a few turn. I didn’t need re-index them and I see no need for heavier torsion bars. I’m also running a Prinsu rack and home made rear drawers. Tires are 285/75r16 Falken AT4’s. I’ve ran KO2’s in the same size as well.

My LC is my daily driver and I’m very happy with the setup and overall performance both on and off road.

Top nut is off

But the rear axle is still not dropping.. is there anything else holding the ahc rear shock?

I lift one side of the axle with a floor jack and quickly drop it a few times. Shocks still stays on... is it just welded by rust?

Ok i got one shock out . But had to cut the bottom and damaged the hanger a bit. How ****ed am I? Pardon my French

OME springs and too heavy of a spring was causing a harsh ride for me in the rear. I switched to ICON 2.0s which are cheap and very comfortable on and off road. Also more travel over stock. this helped my ride but then changing to more suited springs in the rear made it really nice.
