awesome pics! I hope to get out that way next year.

Thanks for the comments. One of the best impromptu trips I have done in a LONG time...we had originally planned to go North to Wyoming and fish in the Wind rivers, but with snow and super cold temps, we decided to go South instead...

how many hours on your butt in the rig vs. hours hiking / camping / fishing? (Sleep doesn't count). Looks like a great trip, but my gang doesn't have as much patience for riding along in the passenger's seats as I'd like. An audio book can buy a lot of time, just curious how much I'd need!

Good question. We didn't go crazy on driving, just so the time spent in the car wasn't over the top. Our longest day getting to Bryce Canyon and ultimately our first camp spot we spent about a total of 5.5 hours in the car-4 of them from SLC to Bryce. I calculated total miles and divided by 60 mph (avg.) and we spent 23 hours driving it. Obviously some places we were trucking along at 75 and some at 35, but you get the idea. If I were to do it all over again, I would eliminate Bryce, and cut from SLC>Moab>Monticello way...

Moody,
I've posted this question up in Chat, but since you were just there....

I'm meeting my sister at Bullfrog Marina on Lake Powell on Tuesday morning. We can't leave until early Monday morning at the soonest. I'd like to go through Capitol Reef on the way, with as much off road as possible to see the back road sights and get away from the crowds. OK, I really just haven't stretched the LC muscles this year and I'm aching to get off road a little. Did you do the trails through here, or just the highways? How long do you think it'll take? Any suggestions? I'll probably come down I-15 to 70 and over that way. It's about 3-4 hours for me to get to the turn off at I-70.

Funny, I was just in Bryce 2 weekends ago, we got a pic at pretty much the same spot...it sure was fun...but did not take the Cruiser we had a bit farther to go (walla walla to SLC is ~600 miles?!). Wish i could have made it into AZ like you but oh well. Thanks for the pics they are very inspiring for trip #2 :D
