So one day low beams were not working on on my '09 LX. Everything else works (even the little green light indicator is on saying lights are on...when they are not).
Took passenger side low beam bulb out - looked fine.
Checked the fuses - fine
Wanted to check relay 34 (29 on LC)...not sure how to get to it. I'm guessing it's part of the fuse box and I was on vacation without tools so I left it until I get home. So drove for 4 days without low beams - no big deal.
So today, I get my multi meter out, go to the car to do some trouble shooting. I turn the car on (with engine off), put lights into ON position.
I twist the plastic cap off on the headlight to get to the bulb again and voila the light comes on (just one). That's weird.
I go to driver side, rotate the plastic cap to get to the bulb and that light comes on. Really weird.....
I'm puzzled. The plastic caps don't have any connectors, the bulb simply plugs into standard connector inside.
When on vacation, I took the bulb out and put it back in and that didn't fixed it, but now just twisting the cap fixed it. And both lights were out and both were "fixed" the same way.
Anybody has an explanation?
Btw, seems that low beam issue is quite common on toyotas for a variety of reasons with a variety of symptoms. Kinda disappointing to see that.
