Hey all -

I'm real familiar with the FZJ80 Landcruisers, but the 5.7 V8 is a new animal for me.

What would you think of a Platinum package, 1 owner & all svc records (told "timing belt" was done @ 100K - I thought the 5.7 was timing chain???) - clean carfax.

Asking is $24,900 - was told repeatedly they "work with you".

-------------–--------

How much life is left is there (powertrain mainly) -based on you all here who know the 2008 powertrain?

Is that price insane, and if so - what would be a **fair** buying price? - keep in mind I'm in WA state where we pay a small premium, but it's a local rig so I expect when I slide under to see no rust, nor do we see too much sun fade/damage to dashboards.

Any "known issue" spots I should look at critically?

I'm keeping my 80, just want a Sequoia / Tundra 5.7 w/ IFS for towing my boat & as a 2nd rig.

Thanks guys! - Would love to hear opinions on price & any "problem spots"!

Yea, I think that's high. $25K for an '08 with 155K mi is too much IMO. I paid $10K LESS for my '07 Limited 4X4 (leather, captains in middle row) with 148K mi, one owner, service records at dealer. It's clean, as mint as one could expect for 148K mi. I know this one has the newer motor, but that's a lot of scratch. The interior is WAAAAAYYY better starting in '08. I think ~$20K, or less is, is closer to fair.

Play around with KBB.com to see what the recommended prices are.

I can give you insight into the 5.7, my 2008 Tundra has 208,000 on it and runs like a raped ape!!!

That is a hell of a motor!! I use mine for work and towing my 80 to and from the trails...

That does sound like a lot of money though...but I wouldn't worry about reliability...

5.7s have timing chains, so you don't have to worry about changing timing belts every 90k miles.

So negotiated, - is $20K flat a fair range based on it being a 1 owner in WA, with records?

Or is $20K still too much for an '08 w/155K ?

I'm not looking for the cheapest, but rather a quality one regardless the odometer - been told it's in excellent shape & all pics shown back what I expect to go see.

Are there any known trouble spots on these? - It is a 1st year 5.7 Sequoia.

Thanks guys!

$20k sounds about right. I purchased an '05 three years ago with 130k on it for like $17,500 that is fully loaded from a Toyota dealer in Seattle.

I think $20K sounds much better

While 08 was the first year for the Sequoia, it is the second year for the 5.7 powertrain. No issues. at $25k you coming up on 200 Series Land Cruiser territory... I've seen a couple advertised for under $30k.

Go to Black Book and put the information in. Black Book will give a pretty good idea of what they paid for it as either a trade or at auction. Knowing what they paid for it will give you a good place to begin.

I have a 2006, with $165K, Timing belt was done a few months ago... runs like a top... It's the old body style. Great trucks!
That does sound like a high price...

Ha, I appreciate all the help guys - I'm not a 5.7 powertrain owner yet.

I found the 40th in my sig & I have a bit of experience with 80's now, so the price I paid kicked a decent dent in my $$$ for a "fancy" 'Yota.

I imagine in a few years I'll be back, the Tundra was really what got me thinking 5.7 but that sequoia is a sharp looking vehicle, to me. I never really paid attention before, always totally content (except when towing boat) with my 80.

I always thought they were the "redheaded stepchild" of the Landcruiser, but after a test drive of a local one I can see where really it just seems a little more a "roomier 4runner" - with more power.

That said, I've never driven, just sat in a 200 - so no real seat time.

Seems the best of all worlds to me would be a 100 with a timing chain 5.7 - just my $.02
