Considering the purchase of either the 07 all black TRD or 10 TT desert storm. Seems like you can get the 07 for around $20k and the 10 for $26 to $27k. Is it worth paying the extra $ to get the 10TT? Any thoughts or other options to consider would be appreciated.

im looking at them too.
FYI- if you get one that is pre-2010 /2009 you need to check the inner fender crumple zones for cracking.
apparently a factory defect that toyota would not own up to, but since has been corrected in the later models.
there is a whole 300 page thread on this over on fj cruiser forums.
check it out before you buy.

Yeah what condition is that TRD in? Because I looked up the Blue Book on mine after finding out that the FJ is the best resale value vehicle for 2012 and mine is $24,500. So is it only $20k because of higher miles or is the condition not the best or what exactly?

But if that TRD IS in good condition, then I would totally just choose that instead of the TT, there is no point paying a lot more for a vehicle that basically has the same features such as the TRD CIA and exhaust among many other things. However though, the 2010+ FJs have the more powerful engine and other updates to make them more up to date if that is something you are looking for. But if you go with an 07, you will get the original, more basicfeel of the FJ without all the "babysitter lights" as some guys put it.

I've been watching various listings like craigslist and autotrader and it seems like you can get a decent one with maybe 80k on it for $20k. There are certainly ones out there that are higher in price with less miles. Sort of the same for the 10 TT, $26k is lower end of range with higher miles.
I really like the 07 Black TRD but was trying to weigh out whether spending $6k more made sense when you end up with a three year newer vehicle and some of the problems they had with the earlier ones addressed like the rear differential and cracking inner fenders. Any sincere thoughts are appreciated.

Look underneath both vehicles, were they wheeled?

While most probably never went off road, it pays to check. An inexperienced driver could result in more wear and tear. If one never was wheeled, it would be a better bet.

I don't always agree with that. Many times a vehicle that's been wheeled, or set up as such will have been better maintained than the regular Joe who doesn't even change the oil. I'd bet some of the most well maintained and cared for Toyota 4x4's can be found right here on MUD. And many of them are wheeled on a regular basis.

^^ X2, I know I wheeled the piss out of mine and it was meticulously maintained. Yet, all it takes is one "bad" owner to ruin a used vehicle purchase.

I think the important message is to simply give it a good inspection regardless of the aleged history...

Merry Christmas Jerry!

Waiting for the grandchildren to wake up...

I've got an 07 Really no problems i Wheel it, they only thing is some people notice a wheel shake in the post 2009 Trucks since they changed the steering box..I can't feel to much since of my MT's  sell ya mine hahaha

I did write "inexperienced" driver. I see many new drivers who have never driven off road. Most will become responsible wheelers but some will abuse their vehicles and try to sell them to unsuspecting people. Never hurts to check. Also, we are dealing with fairly new FJC's not 30 year old Land Cruisers. As they are under warranty and have carfax reports it is easier to see if the oil was changed and maintenance was done.

So, unless you know the owner, a vehicle that was not wheeled is usually the better deal.
