I am looking to buy a mid-size suv for my wife and interested in a 05 4Runner. Any owner/s out there who would like to share their experiences? Thanks..

Well my 03 is almost alike, except for the SC and the new engine the 05 has. For a midsize suv I love it, ride quality is great, extremely sturdy, very reliable, and ofcourse you can't beat Toyota quality. Other rigs we considered were Pilot, Highlander, Pathfinder, Tahoe. None matched the runner.

look at t4r.org, or yotatech.com both are packed with 4th gen owners.

Do a search on yotatech.com there is a ton there.

05 is good because both V6/V8 have 5spd tranny and vvt-i (although the trannies are now made in the USA)

If it's staying on the pavement, get the Hybrid Highlander or RH300 - impressive HP and MPG's.

just bought an '04 at the first of the year. Its a great car, we love it. Test drove a Nissan Titan today and then a Toyota Tundra... big difference. The Titan feels like it's built way cheap and drives like a Ford.

Thanks for all the infos guys! We will test drive it one more time and most likely will buy one this Saturday. Thanks again. :)

Tranny is made in the USA? I thought all the toyota drivetrains/engines were made in Japan, while the more minor parts (oil filters, etc.) were made in N. America? I would have thought the 5spd tranny on the '05 runner is the same as the one used on the '03+ LC 100 since the '02 and earlier 100's used the same 4spd auto tranny as the 3rd gen 4runner.

Yeah maybe you're right Jim, I think someone gave me bunk info. I think it's just the car trannys they are going to make in the USA
