Hello there, we are in the same area, looking for the same car with the same budget. You probably like me have called all the craigslist posts in the area. Lots of dealers posting as "by owner". I've test driven 2 by owner but both not in the conditions that I wish. If you're interested in talking, page me. I've also looked for some in Florida. I can share my spreadsheet with info if you want.

Don't waste your time on this one
2007 LEXUS LX470 GREAT TRUCK
At first the car was all fine, then I got the VIN and run the carfax as I was going to see it. The guy is a total fake, carfax shows damage and salvage auction, after I brought that up, he was insisting the car was a theft recovery from his friend.
VIN: JTJHT00W074020098
Phone Number: 516 444 5621
The guy called himself Frank but I don't think it's his real name.
e-mail: xnasdaqx@aol.com
He showed a copy of a title that did not say rebuilt, but I heard there is ways to wash a title, so that might be it.
See picture from google showing salvage auction pictures.

I just purchased my first LX 470: https://cargur.us/cCTfR
Just finished with the Lexus Inspection and all came back fine.
@dmac80 if you're still looking for yours I can recommend one here in Queens that's 99 and have the interior very nice, front seats have been redone. The owner just replaced the AHC with strutmasters coilovers and he would let it go for 8k. 127K miles. I didn't inspect deeper but I drove it and felt it was fine. Only reason I didn't pull the trigger at the time was because it was the first one I saw and I wanted it newer because it's for the wife. For me I would love that one because it would be my toy, not much money and not much to worry.

I'm not an expert on buying a car 10 states south or west of me. I know that there are likely more rust free 100's/470's down there, but having a 5 day work week and family during the weekend makes it very difficult to fly out for an inspection. I much rather stick locally and pay a bit more.

With that said, I have a BMW 328ix Car Lease to try to get out if ( 18 months left with 18k miles left ). Stuck between a 5th gen new 4runner sr5/trail and a 100/200/470/570 from 2005-2010 for pricing concerns. I can't spend more than 40k on a car at the moment, which is why I am looking at a 4runner, but I am unsure of its reliability.

Most people say its reliable, and that the LC200's are even more so, but not willing to give up 85k on one just yet.

If there are any things that 100 owners that are willing to sell their truck, please let me know.

Just be patient, don't get stressed or too excited. I've built a spreadsheet and started doing research until the right one appeared. After seeing a couple I bought one by mail order after a Lexus dealer inspection. Going to pick it up this weekend. Took about 30 days. Yes some of my list ended up going away as I acquired experience in the process.

May I ask how much you spent on the inspection and the transportation of the car/flight? Also, did you buy one from nearby or one from the west/south? Time is not an issue. I am more worried about being ripped off.

Paid $165 for Lexus Dealer to Inspect. Seller dropped it of at the dealer. They inspected it and gave me a nice report and also explained everything on the report over the phone.
I didn't take possession yet, I'm driving this Saturday to pick it up. Flight would be $130 but I rather go there and drive back not that far.
I got a car that is north from where I live NJ to MA. But I figured, rather a 2007 from North with great history than a 99 unknown from all over. Also it was easier for me to find a 2007 with one owner than a 99.
From looking at my list of cars today, I see 2 left that I could potentially buy, if you want more info I can share with you.

Just came to my mind, maybe you can reach one of this mechanics in your area, perhaps they know someone is selling.
CRUISER MECHANICS - Listed by State

That is awesome, man. Would you care to share the list?

The drive up to MA from NJ isn't that bad, so I could imagine you getting a taxi / plane ticket.

Do you know if you are allowed to pay via Credit Card? I'm assuming probably not, but just asking since I'd rather have 0% apr. Cash is another thing, but don't feel like losing 20k right off the bat.

I'm driving the Prius with the wife up there and will come back on it. I did a Wire Transfer. I bought from a dealer that has a business under his name and the car was inspected. If I felt that there was something suspicious I would find someone to broker for me.
The only reason I did remotely is because I didn't want to do two trips up there since MA does not issue temp plates. Other states you can just do one trip, check and come back with the car.
You might be able to pay with the card but they would charge a credit card fee.

If anyone is still interested, I have an 05 LX 470 w/ ~83K miles that I've been thinking of letting go. Located in Staten Island, NY.

I'm looking to pay 15k - 25k for a used Land Cruiser / LX 470. I would prefer it to be under 100k miles, well maintained, and minimal rust. I live in New York and can drive up to 150 - 200 miles in any direction from New York.

2004 LX470 with 76k original miles. Clean carfax, all service done by certified lexus dealer. This LX is CLEAN. Brakes, battery, tires, all fluids, and timing belt done at 55k. Extra full set of new blizzak snow tires on OEM rims. My wife is ready for a minivan...I know, I don't want to hear it.
