Need some help. I have 2004 Tundra 4x4 double cab. Just installed a 2.5" lift with strut spacers up front and blocks with new shocks on rear. I have stock 265/65/17 now. I want to keep the stock wheels and powdercoat them. I want to do 285/70/17 tires on them. After installing the lift there is only a 1" clearance between the tire and upper control arm. Are wheel spacers a bad idea? I read many mixed reviews on stress to the wheel bearings and ball joints etc... Can't afford new wheels and I like the stock. Any suggestions?

i know many people have been debating if spacers are a good or bad idea, but this is my own personal experience: i've ran spacers/adapters on all my vehicles and never ran into any problems because of them. if you do go the spacer route, my advice would be to make sure you run hubcentric AND wheelcentric spacers.

I have an '04, I have the Bilstein 5100s for 2" of lift and I run 285/75/16 Duratracs without issue.

Hubcentric seem to be the way to go but you don't need them unless you go to a 305.

some advice, if you have not:

1. installed a dif drop
2. done the "hose clamp mod"
3. gotten alignment

do so now, or your s*** will get fxxxed up. fo real do.

I have an 06 with bilstien top notch. 285/70/17 BFG km2 would not fit unless I used spacers. I believe the best spacers are the spidertrax. Got mine from wheelersoffroad. I have towed my 7k boat with them and they are holding up.

As for the front CV boot mod i would buy clamps from kartek

Thanks for the advice on the tires. @ BattleWagon, I did the alignment but not the diff. drop or boot clamps. However, I did notice today that the inner CV Boots were spitting grease out! There is a tear on the passenger side boot and haven't had a chance to check out the drivers side. I don't know how old the boots are? Could this have happend do to the lift without the diff. drop?

absolutely, you need to get new boots and grease in there stat, they are pretty sensitive. then do your dif drop and get new clamps either the ones mentioned or you can use home clamps from the hardware store (I know it sounds hokey but a lot of people use them including me and they work great.(

mine was spitting grease after a day and I even had the dif drop and I'm on the 4th notch of my 5100s.

go to tundrasolutions.com and read up on it.
