2004 Toyota Land Cruiser Austin, Texas | Lakeway Motorsports

Looking for thoughts and opinions on this one. Looks like price was originally 17+.

If it seems to check out on paper, I'd happily compensate a knowledgeable mudder to examine in person.

And as an aside, I signed up for the pipeline auction site but can't get any selling prices to show up for me.

Thanks all.

(I know, dealers suck :))

I looked at it a while back. It's in good condition from my basic inspection and was indeed listed for around $17k originally. I went there to look at a 2001 LX470 they had, which turned out to be a rust bucket underneath.

I only looked on the inside with the vehicle off, so take that for what it's worth.

I wouldn't trust those guys. Went to look at a pair of LX's they had a while back. IIRC the one @evanrocks is talking about was river rock green and rusted to crap. We're talking about "bordering on negligence for him to be selling it" rusted.

The other one looked OK with moderate oxidation but upon further inspection it had definitely been wrecked. The front bumper had been broken and repaired by welding a plate across the top which was then painted black so you couldn't tell looking from above unless you had a flashlight. There was other body work that was out of line and the seller was really proud of the clean CARFAX...which goes to show what those are worth. Not saying he made that repair but in my mind he's either unscrupulous, oblivious, or both.

That LC has been up for sale for a good 2-3 months at least. Last I checked - the service records were mostly missing and it just didn't look that great.

Considering the last 4 above average cruisers I've looked at in the DFW/Austin/Houston area have been sold in less than 2-3 days (2 of them overnight), I just kind of assume anything older than a month has something wrong with it.

Don't do it! I looked at it a week ago and I called LC Spec to see if they would take a look at it for me as a "buyers check" and they said they remember looking at it before me, and they racked up a list of about $8,000 to get it back to good condition again.

The hood struts don't work, the driver side door isn't aligned (you can tell when you shut it), according to LC Specialist the timing belt wasn't changed even though the guys at Lakeway might tell you otherwise. And it needs new tires, brakes, and rotors, plus a myriad of other crap most likely.

I can't believe it started at $18k, then down to $16.5k and then to $14.9k, they are trying to steal from people. I told the salesman flat out that it wasn't a fair price at all.

I just had this LC inspected today by a local Toyota dealer and it needs $5800+ worth of work. New rack, CVs, rotors, shocks, all fluids, and there is a major clunk in the drivetrain. I asked the tech if he thought it was just the VC and he said no. The dealer won't budge on the price of $15.5k. Oh, and the dealer said they don't think the timing belt was changed. I looked the VIN up on my owner's app and it looks like another dealer did a pre vehicle inspection 2 weeks ago. That dealer was unwilling to provide me any details. I'd stay away.
