greetings y'all,

hoping the collective fellow cruiser heads could help me diagnose some issues.

issues:
- stop to drive. trans or driveline will thud significantly.
- 5th gear > 4th loss of 200 rpm. upon acceleration, the vehicle will downshift, then the rpm's will drop by 200 while accelerating only to re-gain the loss 200 rpm then shift back into 5th after incline/hill/acceleration.
- going from 4th gear to 3rd when trying to accelerate quickly I will notice the vehicle slamming into gear.

context/recent maintenance:
- hub flanges and CVs have been replaced within the past 50k miles with oem parts.
- past 2k miles front/rear drive shafts replaced.
- past 10k miles steering rack replaced by the Truck Shop in SD,CA.
- past 10k miles front diff bushings have been replaced.
- trans fluid level is acceptable and fluid looks clean.
- no current codes via scangauge.
- normal daily driver trans temp @ 130-150f. desert mountain pass temps (ambient temp 80-90f) trans temp @ 160-170f.
- vehicle mileage 256,xxx

thanks in advance for any advice and suggestions!

I'm no expert but it sounds like the torque converter is not behaving correctly. The 200 rpm rise and drop is IMO most likely the torque converter locking and unlocking. Perhaps it's slamming gears for that reason too but that's where my knowledge runs out.
