Hey guys,

Checking to see if anyone knows of a well-kept '03-'07 100 preferably in the Houston area. I'm willing to travel for the right car, though.

Maintenance records are a plus. Given that some of these cars are 10+ years, I'm not expecting a concours vehicle. I just want something safe, dependable and capable enough to survive the occasional flood that we get down in these parts of the US.

Prefer Silver or white exterior. I'm not too picky on interior color or options so long as things work. I'm also willing to pay a reasonable premium for lower mileage cars.

Thanks,
Jon

Thanks for the heads up. I've checked out a couple of cars, and for now, I'd like to keep my search to LCs. I know it might sound trivial, but I like to keep things as simple as possible, and there are just a few things that come standard on the LXs that I'd prefer to stay away from.

I wanted to try the forum because I haven't had any good feelings about the cars that I've inquired about at dealers. I prefer to buy my cars from enthusiast-minded individuals because in my experience, they take care of their cars like I would.

I'll continue to look through traditional sites like craigslist, ebay, cars.com, etc., but I'm hoping to find a good car, within a reasonable distance, from this forum and become an active contributor.

Thanks,
Jon

I definitely hear you, I'm still trying to get into the LC community (I drive a jeep right now).

There's one up in Austin for $20k, it's an 04, good condition but the dealer won't budge on the price and I just can't swing $20k, I'd like to have a little bit left over to put mods on it. I'd be selling my jeep to get it but I just can't do that right now.

It's not trivial though, my buddy has 2 LCs and a LX, he said I should look for an LX since they are generally cheaper. But I told him for my first one I'd rather just keep it Toyota, even though they are the same thing pretty much. Minus AHC for certain years.

Why are u looking at 03 and up? for the 5 speed tranny? anyways I thought this was a okay deal where you would save a bunch and still enjoy a decent car.

BTW I cannot find it now on CL. But there is a car at Sewell Lexus I think in Houston that was in great low mileage condition give it a look as well.

03 and up for the 5 speed.

I have an 06 TLC in Katy with 126K on the clock, owned since 93k and 2012. Brakes, tranny fluid around 113k. Timing belt done at 101k along with power steering flush. It's blue and has some wear and tear for being almost 11 years old but very dependable and cleans up nice. We are contemplating a minivan for the wife now that we have two kids.

A couple of reasons that I'd like to get an '03 or newer. I like that the '03 and newer trucks have the LATCH system for car seats. I realize you can use conventional seatbelts to restrain a car seat, but I tend to move the car seats in and out of the current truck a lot, and the LATCH system makes it more convenient, and in my opinion, easier to install correctly and safely. I prefer having the newer technology on the front airbags, and at least the option of finding a car with the side and curtain airbags, recall be damned. I also like the 5 speed, even though the pre-'03 4 speed is a proven and reliable transmission.

I'd really like to find an '06 or '07 just because I like the later cars of a particular model/chassis. I tend to think that by the end of the model lifecycle, the engineers have figured out most of the gremlins and issues with a particular model.

Thanks for the input, guys.

I'm still on the hunt as of right now. I'm not in any hurry, as the current truck is fine for transportation. I just have the 100 bug. I've wanted one for a long time, and now that my air-cooled 911 obsession is temporarily quenched, I'm looking for a different automotive enthusiast experience.

BTW, fjohrs, I sent you a PM.

I have a 2004 Lexus LX470 with about 233,000. I know you mentioned low miles but it has been well taken care of. Please let me know if you would like to discuss or see pictures.

Thanks for the leads, guys. I think I've lucked out and found the one that I'm looking for. Hopefully, the deal will get done later this week, and I can start a thread about being a new owner!
