What up fellas. I'm wanting to purchase a 98 LX 470. The purchase transaction was to take place this past weekend, but the LX's CEL came on. I didn't have a obdII reader. Seller hinted on it being the oxygen sensors.

I searched and the job seems simple enough with the proper tools. I don't have the proper tools.

I would dig on having another forum member there that may have more knowledge of this job that could help me out. Also maybe giving the truck a final inspection. I have checked out the truck twice so far. I could have missed something.

Truck is located in National City.
Any of you fellas able to help me out this coming weekend, say Sunday?? I'll have to schedule a time with the seller.
Food and beerskies provided.

Thanks.

Al

O2 sensors on the 80's aren't cheap. Hopefully the seller is chipping in on the cost of the new ones??

What special tools? The 80 takes a 10mm wrench or socket as I recall and nothing more...maybe some WD-40 or other rust penetrate to remove the nuts.

Thanks for chiming in Brent.

It's a 100 series.

Thanks for chiming in Brent.

It's a 100 series.

Knew that, but are special tools needed? No write up's in the 100 section on this?

The only special tool I've ever needed was an acetylene torch to heat up the broken stub and vice grip it out:bang::bang:

I did search the 100 series FAQ. A few fellas chimed in on the 100 series tech forum. It looks like one sensor is no problem. The second sensor is a pita and may require a particular wrench to make it easier.

Not familiar with the process.

I could be wrong but I thought there were four sensors.
