I have been trying to convince a coworker to go wheeling with me for almost a year. Last March he bought a decked out Defender 90. ARB lockers, winch reciever for front and back, sweet PA with siren , and some other cool things. Well... I finally got him out today. We met up in town with another coworker, Eric with a pretty set up Rubicon, and headed to the Milk Run. The Milk Run is a network of trails all around Cedro Peak. Evan caught wind of my plans and joined us. While setting up CB's at the Chevron in Zuzax we met a guy named Paul. He was familiar with HDC (in a good way :)). He used to own a 40 and wheeled with Shawn and the gang back in the day. He also sold Jon the "Basket Case." He now drives what is left of a '94 Toyota Pickup. Great guy with an intimate knowledge of the trails. We putted around and he took us on some trails I hadn't explored yet. Eric (Rubicon) had aired down way too much (5 psi ) and popped his bead pretty bad. He had no spare, no jack, and no idea what to do next. Insert Paul. Paul had a can of starter fluid. We scrounged for a lighter and got lucky. The trick we have all heard about works! It was awesome to watch, I wish I had video taped it though.

We had a great outing and Jake (Defender 90) had a comfortable introduction. And is looking forward to wheeling again.
Now on to the pictures:

Nice pics Rory! That was a fun day. My tires were a little out of balance driving home - I think it had to do with the 50 pounds of mud that was caked on each tire and wheel! :D

Yes, he did. Here is a pic of Paul "back in the day." FJ40 with a scream'n 327 vee-eight.

It looks like you had a powertank handy too, I wonder did not not seat the bead? I was thinking of getting one for that reason.

The power tank reseated the bead on the passenger side which wasn't as bad. THe driver's side was full of mud and barely on the rim still. If we had the tools to remove the valve stem, I think the power tank would have worked.

Cool pics Jon. He said the guy he sold his 40 to painted it Orange and put big black "01" on the doors. Is that maybe Uno Racing?

The defenders are pretty sweet. Had I come across a Defender 110 before the TLC, I might have gone that way.

Glad things worked out for the better :grinpimp:.

Boy would you've been sorry :D

Yeah, I guess there's a whole bunch of new people that don't know about the Xmas tree Land Rover fiasco.

I think Paul's buggy is way cool, but how does he all the accessories on his engine from getting all gooped up with mud?

Both the engine compartment and the passenger "cab" are wide open for intrusion of mud and whatever else those mud tires are slinging.

i hope you said "hi" for me! Paul loves the go pedal. i saw him do some crazy stuff at WOT(wide open throttle).:D he sold all his 4x4's and went into quads for a while. i guess he couldn't stay away from the Toyotas.:grinpimp:
