Fellow Cruiser-heads,
I'm having a random non-starting issue, in which the immobilizer light keeps blinking AND the VSC OFF and other VSC lights remain on after all the other lights turn off.
Quick background: it's 2001 LC I just bought. It has 127k and is a super-clean, fully stock, always garaged rig (that I bought for my wife) ...I drive an fjz80 w 235k and have never had a serious issue. I talked my wife OUT of a minivan and INTO the 100, and now it is randomly stranding us and our kids at various locations.
I know from other threads on here that replacing the EFI fuse is 1st order of business. I did this yesterday, and it did not solve the issue....but 30 minutes later the rig started right up.
I then drove to my office. Parked it for 2 hours. And it wouldn't start again (immobilizer blinking + VSC lights on after all other lights turn off). I called a tow truck. By the time the tow truck arrived, it started, so I drove it to the shop and parked it there.
This morning at the shop, it started right up...no lights, no codes.
I have read all the Immobilizer threads and will tell my mechanic to put new EFI and stereo fuses in it (it does have an aftermarket radio w/backup camera that I suspect to be involved).
I'm wondering though DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THE VSC LIGHTS being connected to the non-starting and immobilizer.
data:
-when not starting all accessories work fine, engine cranks, all lights turn off except VSC lights and battery light (we have already replaced battery cable, and battery gauge shows strong battery)
-when running, both VSC lights will randomly come on occasionally, sometimes for 30 seconds to a minute, then turn back off.
Any advice would be much appreciated. I know once I get this resolved the 100 will be a great vehicle for my wife and kids, but I've got a bit of egg on my face presently because I bragged to her about how it would never let her down.
