01 center console/cup holders in a 96?

I want some nice cup holders in my 96. Those ones over my radio suck! I have an SR5 model so I need to know if you can fit the shifter surround (5 spd 4wd) with cupholders and such as well as the center armrest from an 01+ into a 96. I would also be interested in putting in the lower dash that has the dual outlets. Has anyone done this?

oh my god! Read through that and as much as I agree the cup holders in the dash bite... what a bunch of work to that mod. I have the rear window rocker and the ect rocker for the tranny as well to relocate.
I basically try to just avoid ever having to use the cup holder.

If you don't have passengers in the back seat and those cupholders aren't broken yet either , you can use a rear-seat cupholder for your own drink.

Note that the flimsy plastic 'arms' on the rear seat cupholders have been redesigned and beefed up for '01 or so - if you order a new one at the dealer, it will have these stronger arms.

just did this mod 2 days ago... man what a difference......... the cup holders where the only thing I hated about my truck........ took 2.5 hours, but that was also while watching the game and drinking...

Good choice in make/model/year. What future mods might you be thinking? Great DD just as long as you don't stiffen up the suspension too much(my case).
