'01 Land Cruiser, 160k, asking $10,500...in my home town
edit: this is in Holland, Michigan 49424.
This popped up in a U-sell lot on my way home last night, and I had to stop. The owner had forgotten to lock it, so I dug around pretty good, and I'm impressed. I called the owner, he kept Mobil1 in the crankcase, sounds like it was well maintained. He said he got on 'mud long ago to put new speakers in, but can't remember his login. Sounds like it has been an extra vehicle and not a daily driver. Looks like it was garaged, my '03 with less miles doesn't look as good, and my wife washes it in our garage regularly.
I'm guessing the timing belt has not been done, although "timing chain" is mentioned in a note in the glovebox from when he bought it (yeah I went there).
The whole truck looks clean inside and out with little wear, like someone detailed it out very thoroughly. The tires are Michelin LTX, owner says he thinks 20k on them, but they look newer than that, I thought they were new. The rear "Land Cruiser" plate is gone, apparently the original owner backed into something and it was not replaced. The frame has minor surface rust, same as mine, they use a lot of salt around here in the Winter. The roof rack has lost much of it's black paint, that seems odd but not a big deal to me. The owner recently had the rear AC lines replaced and AC system recharged, a good thing.
There is a small rust bubble under the paint behind the left-rear door, fingernail-sized, possibly the start of more? The rear hatch normally rusts, but the original owner had it repainted and a black coating applied to the bottom where mine is rusting.
I would buy this if I wanted an '01, but I'm planning on getting something newer than my '03 next, hopefully a 200. I'll test drive it or take more pics if anyone wants, but I reserve the right to change my mind and buy it if it continues to impress me. Not likely, I really want a 200 or that mythical low-mileage 80 with lockers.
