I have a customer who has to get his 3B rebuilt, after a compression check which show between 325 and 375 PSI he feels it needs a rebuild.

One of his complaints is mostly smokey cold starts...

Any shops in the Washington area.

Thanks
Rob

exmodlad nice job!

I have done my share of engine tear downs in gas motors but yet to do a diesel. It looks like you did a excelent job. that looks like the inline six cylinder if I am correct?

Thanks for the offer guys, but I am looking south of the border.

I considered having one rebuild here local and crating it, but the duties and crap would kill the deal.

Do you guys go through the pump and injectors with the rebuild?

Is your next project an engine stand not held together by clamps? Heehee, sorry couldn't help but notice and I'm just bugging ya.. the motor looks awesome, I'm sure it was a lot of work!

I see four injector lines from the injection pump to the injectors. Also, the 6-cylinder diesels have the exhaust (& turbo, if applicable) on the left side, and the injector pump, intake, etc on the right side.

...and YES, that looks really nice. It's too much work for me to 'detail' my engine with it assembled & running, but when its apart for a rebuild -- paint 'till your heart's content!!!

Wonder if you can send the fuel lines out for anodizing with the fittings attached?

Always thought that would be a nice touch along with the fuel line hold down hardware.

what you don't like my classy engine stand:o :o .....hahaha...was in a bit of a hurry so.....well it worked anyways;p ;p ;p

this engine has new injectors and the pump all done up including new diaphram

Heads have all new valve's, springs and keeper's as well as new precups

i have a guy that does anodizing but that was not in the plans for this rebuild/restoration

Alternator and Starter are rebuilt too!!

New Power Steering pump and brackets also added

3b is a four cylinder Haryv

...that engine & Tranny/Xfer paint colour remind me of Yanmar....

I love the paint, my BJ70 will look like that someday. It lacking the toyota emblem turns me off, although I know the defenders are good truck, I like buying my parts from toyota, not ford.

Have fun

BTW, that 4 cylinder diesel 3B or whatever it is looks amazing man, you do nice work, it is so clean. I wanna cook an egg on it.

cheers
Eric

Rob you might do a leak down test and see, it might just be bad or even loose valves. A head job wouldn't be so hard or expensive to do locally...

Good call, I should get him to check it out.

Owner is a great guy but did drive the truck at speeds of 75 to 85 MPH on the freeway for hours, I think he may have cooked somehting.

The engine was really tight before that only a few thousand miles ago.

Rob

PS nice work, really impressive.
