I have the early mini truck non vented discs now. They have served me fine for the last 11 years. I have not even needed to replced the pads
But now I think the front calipers need to be replaced they are sticking and not working very well.

So my question is, when replacing the front calipers should I
a. replace the calipers with the same type I have now?
b. replace them with IFS calipers and buy new vented Cruiser rotors?
And is it a worthwile upgrade, does it make much difference?

My rotors are not warped or anything so it would be fine to continue to run them. The rear discs are still working fine.

I didn't feel like searching so flame away :flipoff2:

I have not run the non vented, only vented. The only additional cost you would be looking at is the cost of the rotors. The calipers (get loaded ones) should be a wash. Go for it!

Hugger I made the upgrade from mini truck to FJ60 vented and the difference is huge in braking - I think it's the larger calipers but it is nice knowing I have big beefy rotors too. I would recommend the upgrade.

I just priced out the parts through Napa, and Kragen.
The LC vented rotors are about 70. a peice.
the IFS v6 calipers run just under 100. loaded.

The early mini calpers loaded are about 50 loaded.

That will be about $300. more to upgrade than just replacing the stock calipers  I didn't think it would be that much more.

It is worth every penny....

hugger-

Upgrading to the V6 calipers and disks could interfer with your rims depending on what you are running. I had a boat load of problems and then bailed on them and went back to fj60/62 calipers;which from my poking around are the same as mini truck 4cylinder IFS calipers.
