> Now is the 62 a better vehicle

Define "better": convience of ATX, power windows, etc ?

Both are a very capable rig 'outa da box'

3.70

The gears are 3.70.............

I believe the 62 is a better DD than the 60 do to mainly fuel injection and the auto, but it also was the first model offered with power locks, doors, mirrors................
I also personally like the auto tranny for offroading.

But overall they are on par; the 62 was just a move to accomidate america's highway oriented driving style and desire for more creature comforts.........

Really it's a matter of the auto trans vs manual and EFI vs carb.

All the other stuff is minor

I personally like manual windows, locks, and trans. I'm a manual type of guy. Besides, manual mechanisms tend to break less often.

The round headlights look nice, the headlight washers are cool.

I like 60s.

...but don't limit yourself between a 60 or 62. Buy one that is low miles, rust free, and in good mechanical condition.

IIRC, it was really more to compete with the new upgraded Nissan Patrol...

US just got it by default. A similar vintage HJ 61 has many more creature features (high roof, sunroof, altimeter, thermometer, headlight washers, bucket seats, split flip up rear seats) than a US spec 62, which unfortunately we didn't get in North America. The cable locking difs, PTO winch, fender flares and of course turbo diesel are pretty nice too.

The front bumpers are also slightly different and the 62 has larger side mirrors.

Any others?
