Alright guys...I posted up a month or two ago about purchasing a troopy and I'll show the pics again to show you a before look. Since I've had it, I've added an OME 2.5" Heavy lift (Thanks Bull!) as well as adding some 35" Dunlop Mud Rovers on 15x8 Black steel wheels (Thanks Lowtideride!). I am by no means finished with the troopy project, but with the new suspension and tires, I am on the way.

I still have to replace the radiator, Add a new exhaust, Linex and paint the interior, Paint the roof, add a new headliner, add new side mirrors, install a radio and speakers, replace all the exterior lights, add rear bench seats, and there is probably more as well.

Here are the before pics...

Sorry about the drawing on the third pic, I was trying to find out some info on the windows.

I only have a little bit of rubbing up front when I turn too sharply. There probably would be some rubbing in the back if I didn't put the OME heavy springs in. It looks like it is close, but in terms of wheel travel the wheel needs to come up around 5-6" before it rubs.

Your troopy is really looking good! Does it feel more stable when cornering with those new tires on? Did you have the stock springs before the OME lift? What did that do as far as ride quality? I have been considering the same lift for my troopy, and getting rims in the 16X7 range with 33"-35" tires on them, but am still on the fence for now.

I've never seen red glasses on a Troopie before! Make it look...well...uh...intelligent (in sort of a safari-esque kinda way) :)

If I had to do it all over again, I would probably go with the OME medium lift. I have probably around 500 lbs inthe back of the troopy right now not counting the roof rack and it still rides very stiff.

I will probably end up taking a leaf or two out as it sits right now. The springs that were on there were not stock, but they rode very soft. After putting in the 2.5" lift, it raised it about 2" and the tires raised it about 2" more.

I went with a 12.5" wide tire instead of the skinny's that were on there because I could not get traction in sand or mud. The skinnys rode better, but for my purposes I needed wider tires.

nice looking troopy:beer:

i'm "sure" the troopy sliders are the same size as a fixed window in a 40 hard top.

i guess i should dig through the junk in the shed and hold one up to my troopy to confirm.

Crusty,

Would you mind comparing the sizes of the two? I'd like to put new gaskets and felts in, but I want to be sure before I call CDan.

Thanks,

Stephen

I have the same sliders on my troopy and just removed them to paint inside and out. The rubber gasket you see on the outside is a "Beauty ring" and can be removed and the window will still be in place. The sliders are glued in with a black windshield adhesive. If you find any new felts or gaskets for these let me know because mine need some TLC...Jason

Are you going to replace with solid Glass?

Where do you get a lift for a troopie? Someone told me that a 40 lift won't fit.

The 40 lift doesn't fit...The front will work fine, but you would have to get different springs for the rear.

I called and talked to Bull and he walked me through what I would need to lift it. I decided to go the OME way as they are one of the few companies that make a 45 series specific lift.

okefenokeefzj80, can you tell me what size tire you went with? I am installing an OME lift along with 1"+ from the extended shackles so I will end up with 3.5" on my 45LV. Need help with tire decision and I really like the look of yours. Also, any info on the roof rack, looks bad ass as noted above.

THe tires that I have are Dunlop Mud Rovers 35 x 12.50 on a black steel 15x8 rim with 3.75 backspacing.

The roof rack is one of mixed feelings between the wife and I. She loves it and I hate it. I think it is not made as well as it could have been although it doesn't look that bad. It is just a homemade roof rack that is attached at the frame behind all 4 tires.
