Can anyone measure the length of the clutch rod on a stock master cylinder setup? I'm trying to adjust the clutch, but it seems like i'm running out of adjustment while the pedal still has too much free play. I adjusted the slave cylinder, that part of it seems fine, it just seems like the clutch rod from the pedal to the master cylinder is too short. I've already adjusted it out all the way and still have about 2" of pedal play before the rod actually contacts the cylinder. Everything else is working fine, I'm not having any trouble shifting or anything, I just don't like the freeplay. Thanks

Hey thanks for the picture, those aren't the dimensions I'm looking for. What I was looking for was the length of the pushrod (#3 in the picture). Even with the rod adjusted out all the way, I can't get the freeplay within specs.

Bad master/slave cylinder(s)?

You might check you pedal placement is it even with the Brake peddle, you can adjust number 1 to make it closer.

I know this is an old post. But I need to adjsut my clutch pedal height and have no idea on how to identify if I have a brake servo or not on my 1973 FJ40. I need o know that in order to adjsut the pedal to the proper height from the floor. (my actual brake system use a mid 80s 60 series booster with a 73 fj40 master / drums all around)

Did you reattach the spring that pulls the pedal back up to the dash? Is that the type of freeplay you're talking? or just the amount of travel before the clutch engages?
