Well, two weeks ago, on my way to our annual Yankee Toys spring meeting, my dad and I stopped at a local New Hampshire gas station to let my dog stretch his leg. Long story short, there was a 40 sittin in front and a few more in the makeshift junkyard (75% cruisers) in the back. As any normal cruiserhead would, I asked him if I could take a look out back. And to my suprise, tucked behind a tire pile was a rusty, old, but complete LV. I made a deal with him and told him I'd be back to pick her up the next weekend.

I went up last Saturday to pick her up, bringing along two tires (the fronts were missing) and a couple come-a-longs. Right away we found out the brakes were rusted and the wheels didn't turn, not unexpected just mre of a PITA to load. A little rugged backhoe work and two hours of come-a-longing later, (and some more junk yard scoping) we were back on the road.

Now that she's home, we're diggin in and findin out what's in store. By the way, LV's are a new ballgame to me, but growin on me fast. The floors are shot, the rockers are shot, it's missing the rear hatch, and the pass side rear quarter is pretty hurt too. But the drivetrain is complete, all but the rear crossmember of the frame is solid, the doors are pretty good, the fenders are salvageable, and all the glass but the windshield is good. Sound like a keeper, huh?

I don't have a "plan" for her yet, but these are such funky rigs I can't let her go. I'm pretty sure she's a 64, she's got a GM carb with what appears to be the stock carb on the seat, a crude plow setup, no rad, some funky pass floor heater, no keys, but pretty complete.

I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions as this is my first LV and although I'm familiar with 40's and 60's, these babies are all new to me. For now, I'm workin on freein up the drums so I can get her in the garage to dig in some more.

That is just the coolest thing ever.

Talk about a lucky find! If you are anything like me, you had to scramble to figure out how to finance the truck, how to move the truck, and where to store the truck. If you hadn't been actively searching for a truck, it's always a surprise!

Nice find. Nice to the max.

Wow. Looks like you're gonna have your hands full for a while!

Nice score!

Thanks Dan, yeah it was totally unexpected and I sure jumped through some hoops, but well worth it.

Did you find out what the original clors were? one tell tale sighn of a 64 is a pop up vent between the windshield and the hood.
very cool to see another in New England nice find

nice score Josh!!!!

Not to mention a shiny 25 out front. So that's what you guys were up to!!   Nice score! I didn't even look, the girls were proud of me! :crybaby:

That guy sure made out well, he'll be glad to see Yankee Toys in town again. :D

I have already told Josh about you Mr. treeroot.....

Yeah Jay, it's got the vent. As for the color, who knows.

Jim-yeah he was an old cruiserhead, they were very curious about your truck and the sudden influx of cruisers. I went back Sunday night after wheelin and he had moved the 40 out front closer to the road.

Dave, It's right in the center of Winchester on Rt. 10 I think. There is a 73 55 that is kind of shoddy, sat for a looong time, but still has salvageable parts, 69, 70, and 73 40's that are also pretty shoddy. All trucks are stock with drivetrains and plenty of body rot. A couple of nice split hoods though.

And treeroot, we'll definitely be in touch soon. Gotta get her rollin and into the garage.

Well, not a whole lot accomplished this weekend, but she's rollin. Spent all day heatin and PB'n pretty much. Got the driveshafts off to roll her around easily, engines not turnin over yet. But she'll be in her new home shortly, time to shuffle parts out of the garage...

It's great that you were able to work out deal and bring her home.:)

Kina your just fighting the urge to restore yours :)
