Well, to keep up with my Herculining fix, I have finally gotten around to doing what I've wanted to do to this rig for awhile now: Herculine the entire interior.

I use my truck pretty much the way a truck like this should be used--functionally.

As such, all of the rugging/dampening is getting pulled out, seats are getting pulled out and the angle grinder is going to work getting this sucker ready.

I'll keep you all posted with some pics.

Thanks to AMMO for the inspiration.

Best regards.

What exactly are you grinding off? I have planned and thought of doing this for months and months since I would get it sprayed on at the cost of materials, but never had the balls to rip out all the carpet and go at it.

I will be following this closely as I know how good a lined floor works.

Hey, do me a favor? How about a picture or three of the 2nd & 3rd row seating area now that you have the interior out? I've been considering some mods that will require me to dig into the interior and I'd like to see what I'm getting into.

Thanks!

How long does it take the smell to go away before you can stand to ride in the rig again.

Herculiner requires things to be scuffed up a bit.

I've got a nice scotch brite 4" disc that I am going to use to scuff up the bare metal areas.

The 60 grit will be used to get the rubbery like sticky covering in the rear sections of the rig. THat stuff all needs to come out before the Herculiner can go in.

Then the bolts all come out and get taped over or crappy bolts are used to fill in.

Then some xylene and then Herculiner city.

I'll post up as I progress. Hope to have this done by Sunday AM.

Not sure but at least 24 hours. Or, ride anyway and catch a good buzz. Either way is fine with me.

I've had the 2nd and 3rd rows out for about 1.5 years now....just easier to deal with now.

As requested: 2nd row and 3rd row with nothing there.

Dang, I was hoping to leave that stuff in as extra insulation. Is there anything you can put under it for increased insulation or is the material there all that can be done?

Hmm... Whats the silvery hatch in the middle of the 2nd row area for?

Cool! I didn't know there was a way to get there without dropping the tank! Good to know a shortcut.

You don't think you can just coat over that stuff? I've been considering doing the inside someday and I thought I could just lay down a couple of extra coats to make up for any softness those areas would have. I used 3 coats of Durabak on the exterior, I would probably use 5 coats inside on the floor.

Get out the air chisel if you really want to remove the OEM sound deadening. I don't think it'll hurt anything if you Herculine over it. I was looking at a guys truck the other day that left the OEM stuff in and installed Dynamat over it and then rolled on some kind of do-it-yourself liner. It didn't look bad and I guess it served his purpose of sound deadening and insulation from the heat. I honestly do not recall what kind of truck is was though (somewhere online). From an aesthetics standpoint I can understand removing it as it changes the shape of the floor. If you have an airconditioned garage go for it, if not coat over it and save the sweat for another day. Just think of the high you'll have on your way out west.:smokin:

You need a job, you have way too much time on your hands. Before long you'll have a 3-link on the front and build a rear bumper rather than buy one. :D

Oh, not to hijack but how did you make out on your rear heater situation?

Speedliner

I sprayed an entire H1 with speedliner and scuffed up the paint for proper adhesion. After doing this I wish I had put down some sort of heat and sound barrier. You will still need to have it and it doesn't make a lot of sense to apply to the top of a liner. I would think that if you are spraying horizontal surfaces an extra thick coat would take care of the OEM pads. It might cost you a day but maybe you could spray test something else.

Nice Onur. I saw Herculiner in Menards the other day. I had to walk right by it or else I'd end up spending money I don't have. But'cha never know, I might have it for the Hoedown.:hillbilly:

Personally, I'd leave the sound stuffy in there.

DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then we can power wash our rigs out without any worries of water damage...

I've decided to keep it in, scuff it up with some scotch brite and put three-five coats on. The sucker is going to be loud on 35 Muds tooling down I-70 at 75 MPH!!

Tell me about the job thing...though it looks like I might have turned the corner--DL at CLE)

I ended up taking the second pipe section out and replaced with OEM. FLushed out rad. at the same time and things are nice and kosher now.

Almost ready for the trip. Monday I'm getting a window black out for the heat out west!!

Later.

If I could do it again I would not herculine, I would get it spray professionally. the herc smell is there for at LEAST 2 weeks. and you really need to apply the coats think....I already have spots that are coming off and I have to reapply again. I only did the back half of the truck, when I do the rest of it I 'm going spray on.

Thanks for the info. Sam.

I don't mind the herculine smell.....I kinda like it....:grinpimp:

That said, I am going to go as thick as possible on the heavy wear sections....we'll see how it goes.

Thanks!

Some more pics....

Some tear down pics and the first coat pics....

Not going to do under the seats as those areas do not see much wear and tear. Just lots of dog hair and cigarette ashes.
