FInally decided to start up the roller paint job. It just snowed here the other day so the 40 sill stay in the garage all winter. Bought Pollux Orange color paint from ACE Hardware and a few matching spray cans from Tower Paint (for the soft top bows.)

Took a bunch apart. Painted the inside of the tub black since it was green spray-liner.

Pulled the roll bar since it was covered with Herculiner and was too rough. Gonna grind it and spray some black rustoleum on it.

Rims gotta go too. Going back to old style with the original hub caps

This should take all winter so I'll post as things move along!!!!

Shop also has air line piped thru the walls. Haven't bought a compressor yet. It's more garage than I deserve. heated 4-car.

they'll be able to see that thing from space! That is a really orange orange!

It's an original color....from the research I've done it's pumpkin orange. stickin with it and I'm also painting my M1101 to match!

Just for clarification, you're spraying or rolling?

I'm rolling 90% of it but bought a few spray cans for the soft top bows and for the hard to reach places. Yes, I'm cheating....

is this the same mix for pumkin orange as from here

http://coolfj40.stores.yahoo.net/puorco.html

It's pollux orange. I'm guessing it's the same as pumpkin. I've seen that CCOT code before and the guy who came up with that formula would have had to match the color a couple years after he bought the truck otherwise the sun would have faded it to another color.

I'm guessing too that Toyota didn't bother with offering several shades of orange/ pumpkin to the public as standard colors. Nobody will ever have the real pumpkin code (if one actually ever existed) so I just used the Pollux Orange code since many people also think this is pumpkin. Either way it's getting painted whatever color is in the cans in my garage.;p

First coat of paint

Got the first coat on. I HIGHLY recommend a primer coat. The parts I hit with primer went on very easily. The parts I didn't are gonna take a lot more work. All in all very fun and easy. Looks good too!

Better pic of the ol' pisser too.....

NOTE the difference between the cowl (primered) and the windshield frame (not primered) DEFINITELY use primer. Big difference
