I also do not like how dim everything gets but prefer driving with lights on so I deal with it. The climate control (A/C button mostly) and the clock are the things that I would like to see brighter, especially with sunglasses on. Would be great to bypass the dimmer or something just never...
I covered some rotors and hubs of an exposed axle with wd-40 and it did not work. Solid surface rusting all over raw metal in just a few months and I applied it 3-4 times.
Curious if anyone has figured out a way to have the brighter dash light mode with headlights on? I always have my lights on and it is very hard to see the climate control lights or the clock during the day.

I had to get mine to hold to pass inspection (just has to hold at idle to pass) and the cable was stretched. Stuck a few washers where the cable attaches at the handle and it holds great . I know the cable won't last forever but it only gets used for inspection so should be good for a while still.
Use a sharp utility knife and just cut the tube then deal with the clamp ends when you get the pipe out.

my 95 has been sitting in the yard for a few months... just charged it up to go wheeling this weekend and found a very similar mess in the glovebox. game on!
