I have chrome wheels on my LX. It's really the last of the bling on this truck. I've called several chrome shops and they say they can strip the chrome.
What are some economical options of acheiving this?
The rear of the unit (part facing front of truck) is mounted with self taping screws. The front of the unit (part facing the rear of the truck) hangs past the end of the metal frame. There was nothing to screw into. The two screws that I installed hold the inverter in place and the bungee...
The pics I posted are the only ones I have. It was pretty straight forward.
- Remove center console.
- The metal bracket in the middle photo is bolted to the base. It is also what the sub assembly is bolted to. I removed the four bolts holding this bracket to the base. This allowed...
I got my inverter installed over the weekend.
Vector 800 watt installed in the center console in place of the no longer needed CD changer. It seemed the most logical place to put one. Easy access from the front or back seats.
Removed CD changer and the sub/amp unit. With the sub...
I did search for info on this. However, didn't find anything about mounting an inverter in this particular location. I saw lots of info for different locations, but, since this seems like wasted space and is in the perfect spot for access for laptops, phones etc. thought I would try it there...
I replaced the OEM head unit and no longer use the 6 disc chnager mounted in the console. Has anyone mounted an inverter in the disc changer location? The only issue I can think there may be in that location heat dissipation. Any other issues I may need to consider?
I think I'm in a "less is more" stage. I REALLY don't like all the superfluous stuff on my truck. The OEM roof rack was the first to go. Next were the running boards and last will be all the cladding...flares and body molding. I guess I'm trying to strip it down to the bare bones lines of...
I'm installing the lift for improved ride and handling, better towing for my boat, and of course for looks. :grinpimp:
There are no rocks on the Gulf Coast of Texas.
I've seen those "auto-retract" steps before, but never for an 80. That is something that I would be very interested...
I understand the importance of rocker protection. However, the only time I'm off road is at the beach or in rolling hills on a farm. The chances of my truck suffering any damage is extremely remote.
I'm looking for an expensive solution to keeping the 3 women in my family QUIET!!!
I recently removed my running boards and will be installing a 2.5 lift this week. My wife and kids are moanin' and groanin' about how hard it is to get in the truck even before the lift has been added.
I know about Slee's step sliders, but cannot justify the cost on a rig that will NEVER...
