Replaced Steering Hose, Now Pump Sounds AWFUL???

Thanks, but I tried that bleed procedure at least eight times. And I have a drip from where the hose bolts to the pump. After looking at the FSM, I see an o-ring on the pressure port union that I don't remember seeing when the PPU unthreaded inadvertently. I ordered a new o-ring and gasket...

Replaced Steering Hose, Now Pump Sounds AWFUL???

Yep, I filled the reservoir and turned it lock to lock 5 times (cap off) while lifted and eng. off per FSM, then lowered it and ran if for a few minutes before turning the wheel (cap on). I hate turning the wheel with the engine running since it groans so bad. It's foamy after running it and I...

Replaced Steering Hose, Now Pump Sounds AWFUL???

My power steering pressure hose was leaking, so I bought an OEM relacement and new Al washer. The bolts were hard to get out, but I eventually got them. Actually, the Pressure Port Union loosened when I removed the Union Bolt, but I torqued everything back to spec (except the pressure feed...

    real time help, heater hose?

If you're not picky about what kind of hose they use and they think they can knock it out in a couple of hours by circumventing the vert. pipe... maybe $175? Just a wild ass guess. Sorry you're not closer or I'd knock it out for ya... I've got the gear to do mine +1. Good luck.

    real time help, heater hose?

Toast is what you are if you intentionally overheat the motor! I would not drive it. Being w/o your truck for a few days might be very inconvenient, but nowhere as inconvenient as a seized motor. The PHH shouldn't be that tough. Bypass the steel pipe if you're in a hurry.

Another ATX birf service: newbie needs advice

Hey guys, here's where I'm at... I heard a little growl from what sounded like the L front wheel bearing a few months ago, so I pretty much parked the cruiser til now. We have a 2-year old and another due any day now, so time has been kinda tight getting ready for the new addition. I figure I...

    What's that screw do?

I was considering mounting a small air tank under the radiator, but saw this bolt (the one in the center of the pic w/ no apparent function) and didn't want to drill through anything that would leak, spark or explode. So, any ideas? Any wires or fluids in there?

What's between your battery and headlight?

Couldn't help but notice a nice little 'hole' in front of my battery... curious if anyone has come up with an industrious use for this space. Tow straps is the first thing that comes to mind. Anyone come up with anything better?

Pic's of trimmed aux. battery tray for 93-97

I had this sucker in/out no less than a dozen times, so I thought it would be worth snapping a couple of pic's for those about to go down the 2xbattery road. I used a coping saw to trim, and files to smooth the edges. I also used a round file to ever-so-slightly elongate a couple of the...

    Those with dogs....

For the second question... I saw a post while back where someone had taken conduit (maybe), flattened the last few inches of the ends, drilled holes, painted it black, and mounted it horizontally behind the 2nd and 3rd row seatbelt bolts keeping dogs in/perps out. I'd fogotten about that one...

    Rear cargo area dome lights

Anyone run their low wattage LED's off the speaker wires for that in-cabin disco/rock-n-roll/rave/house party (pick your decade) effect? Sorry... had to ask.

Engine light and the paper clip

Yeah, it works well. Hook it up to a running truck and it displays the codes a few times, then clears them. It comes with a book to look up code definitions. If I had a dollar for every time I've used mine, I'd have about five bucks, but it's a heck of a lot easier than driving to an auto...

    Plug Change Gone Bad

Harbor Freight has a code reader that'll display/clear you code for 40 jr. bacon cheeseburgers. Many auto parts will check/clear codes for free.

Uh-oh... could use some real time brake job help!

Good point. I have heard of opening it, but never really considered why. Oh, and don't forget to close it... while I was typing last night about my stuck piston, most of the fluid drained out of the reservoir!

Uh-oh... could use some real time brake job help!

Yep... got lucky. Thanks though. I read the warning in the fsm... but was thinking about the other wheel.. not the other side of the caliper!

Uh-oh... could use some real time brake job help!

Whew! Fixed it. It was cockeyed. I'd been doing all my prying from the back of the caliper, so I put (gently) a screwdriver in from the top and pryed the back of the piston and got it pushed back in. Thanks anyway! And... be careful!!! Watch those other pistons!!!

Uh-oh... could use some real time brake job help!

Uh-oh... could use some real time brake job help! *Fixed* Well, I finished & bled the rear w/o problems, the passenger side front is done, but I screwed up the ds front I think. I pulled both pads and compressed the outer piston and it forced one of the inner pistons all the way to the rotor...
