Good. I had a similar overheating problem with my HZ . . . just on those long up hills and the major problem was the clutch fan.
Added a couple of tubes of clutch fan oil and it's now much better but the temp spring is going and I will need to get a new clutch fan assembly if I want to do...
I sure wish I was wrong, it would be a lot cheaper!
But thanks again to Wayne (Crushers) who is (was?) the man as far as "hands on" knowledge goes with the 70 series.
I think the answer is close but no cig for other 70 lights . . .
I remember some discussion a year or so ago about getting DOT approved 77/78 rear lights and Crushers clearly stating there were differences between other 70's and the 77/78's.
Here's one of the threads with comparison pics...
On Ebay? Maybe . . .
There are lots of aussie tail lights. etc. but I don't know how they match with the LJ / HZJ / KZJ's (which are the same according to the EPC).
Check out:

Lot's of good info there and it sounds like Louis is putting together a nice turbo kit for sale here in Canada.
Hey Benoit,
HZJ77 is a good truck . . .
-no turbo but much better than my old BJ60
-1HZ is a good engine, they're still making them which should mean something (for reliability and parts)
-1HZ is a smoooooth diesel engine and doesn't smoke much if setup properly
-NOT much lighter than the...
Lot's of different names for these things. The inside door "weatherstripping" I am referring to is also known as a dew "wipe."
I only replaced my inside wipes as the outside were fine.
The Stanpro replacement isn't an EXACT style match for the Toyota though it did fit in the inside...
In case your HZJ's or LJ's need new weatherstripping . . .
Stanpro Weatherstripping
Style 36, 6ft. Length, A=29/64", B=11/16", Inner And Outer Belt Weatherstripping
ordered from JC Whitney part# ZX193484B
22$ for 6'
fits right in the existing bracket
Also available through Faucher...
Uhhh, thanks Wayne . . . I think.
Just to clarify, it's the inner weatherstripping for the windows. For some reason the PO trashed all four. The outside weatherstrips are in great shape.
Hey,
All of my HZJ77 4 door's inside weatherstrips are toast.
The cost from Japan is $$$$$$$$$$.
Any creative suggestions? If I can find the rubber strips I can fit them into the assembly, etc.
Or maybe there is a third party solution??
Did other cruisers use the same style of rubber...
"What mountain?" is right on . . .
Nice looking rig but with all the editing you can't get a good view of it in action.
A good wheeling video buggered by MTV editing.
to Turbo or not to Turbo (is that the question?)
Reading between the lines then . . . .
1HZ - non-turbo - good for @4-500,000 k
1HZ - Turbo - good for 250 - 350,000 k
That would make some sense, especially with all the hills of BC to go up and down.
But for many people the extra power is...
70's not so attractive in Canada?
Suprising as it is, the 70's seem to really have limited appeal here in Canada, even in the boonies where I live.
I'm a big fan of the seventy series and I drive a HZJ77. It's a nice rig but I get very very few people asking me about my truck even though it's...
Holy Cra$! That's bad luck.
But, on the bright side you are ok . . . A friend of mine slipped coming out of his bathtub a week or so ok. His vehicle is fine, but he's in traction for several months . . .
I second Wayne on the repair issue.
Shouldn't affect it that much. Here's a good thread that has info on BJ74 mileage:

I find with my HZ that there is huge mileage difference between city and highway driving.
