i might be, i dont think i will attack this till spring time though. Winter is fast approaching up here and my garage is not big enough to put my 40 in so she will have to wait till i either move or the weather clears up.
Now i get what you are trying to say. I will look into that when i pull the motor, what should i look for some sort of alignment pin? how will i be able to tell the difference?
not really following this? are you saying i should get the cover for my fly wheel or that my bellhousing adapter that has been in the truck for 18+ years wont work?
no it was inside parts wanting to be outside. the oil pan had the dent when i bought it back in 2000 just never cared to replace it. what is sad is i just bought a new front driveshaft for it the day before the engine gave up the ghost
yep they tested it, and the top posts no longer worked. switched to the side posts and all is well, once i make it into civilization i will go to the interstate store and see if they will warranty it since its only like a year old.
(74 fj40 with a 70's cevy 350, converted to electric fuel pump)i was making my first freeway road test after tweeking a few things for drivability purposes after a spring over. I made it about two miles down the freeway then the radio turned off. came on for a spit second then the whole truck...
i also took off the top today (we hit mid 50's today!!!) and it also made a huge difference. i think i might get at those shocks, and look into a couple of sway bars. i have been reading some threads about it and it seems like an all upside mod.
So doing some death wobble research and decided to look at my shackle and u bolts, bolts, and holly crap were the loose. tightened them up and it made a dramatic difference. i think i will still fix my rear shocks and maybe look into a sway bar set up but i am definitely on my way to some road...
I guess i should explain why i keep saying i was in a hurry. Originally i started this spring over in the winter of 2003, between being broke, deployments, life it took me till about early 06 to get it out of my garage. not done just out of the garage and on its own wheels. fast forward three...
not trying to turn down advice though everything mentioned i will keep in mind while addressing things. I think a good logical first step is the rear shocks. I was never really whooped up about the position. it was just easy and i was in a hurry.
i did the math for the springs before i had the cut and turn done, and the machine shop made me show them my math before they agreed to do the cut and turn.
i agree, i put the high steer on and did the alignment myself with the ol chalk and string method. I feel like it tracks straight when the gas pedal isnt involved. from diving it with no shocks to shocks on softest setting to shocks at firmest setting i notice a dramatic reduction in issue's...
i set it up properly, i had the axle cut and turned and set the caster at 4* i did a lot of research before doing the spring over i just ended up not listening when everyone said 55 or 60 springs are the way to go.
