Hi all,
I have a 72' (Dec 71 build) that currently has the split bench in it. At one point I pulled the bench seat setup and put in a set of Corbeau seats, but I never liked the look or that the passenger seat was much higher than the drivers side. Last weekend I pulled that setup and went back...
Had some acceleration hesitations followed by backfires last week. I didn’t find any obvious vacuum leaks, so I cleaned out the carb jets and fuel bowl (Weber 38).
Pulled the plugs and did a compression check, which I haven’t done on this motor since installing it. Better numbers than I...
This got me curious since I was already thinking my 40 was loud.
72 FJ40
4speed/3speed Tcase
2F with a header and magnaflow muffler
4.11’s and 33x10.50’s
just over 60mph at 93-96db!
Don’t let the minor leaks stop you. Carry some tools, fluids, and aaa card for everything else.
I routinely drive my leaky and loud 40 300 miles in a day. Only time I’ve needed a tow was when an electric fuel pump died. Replaced with an oem mechanical and haven’t looked back.
Who’s going...
Never mind, I slowed down, stopped multitasking on the switch while working, opened a beer, and then bingo. It made sense. Cleaning the switch up, which goes back together just fine.
We’ll see if this helps with the slow/dimming blinkers. Next I’ll be investigating headlight grounds, and...
Hi all,
I’m starting down the path of diagnosing why my turn signals are slowly giving out, they work, then slowly fade out/stop working.
Some searches on mud led to starting by cleaning up the hazard switch. All fine and good, but I’ve once again managed to turn a quick job into a longer...
Drained the transfer case, fixed it’s leaks, and refilled it, then replaced the reverse light switch in the transmission. I can finally see backing up at night!
Next up is figure out why my turn signals have stopped working
Replaced the 4 blade metal fan with a plastic fan, did the full block coolant flush, replaced the thermostat gasket, then took the 40 camping this last weekend. Put about 200 miles on it.
