Big week for my 2000. I am the original owner and have put nearly 260K miles on her. Plan on having her another 20 years and 250K miles. Had the following done, all with OEM parts:
Timing belt, water pump, pulleys and tensioners, cam and crank seals, etc.
Radiator and all hoses - it still had...
I am sure that this is a stupid question, but I just want to double-check. I am starting to gather parts for my upcoming timing belt service. Is everything that the AISIN TKT-021 kit comes with (belt, water pump, tensioners, idler, etc.) the same as Toyota OEM?
I am going to be replacing my original radiator with a Toyota Mexico/global spec (part# 16400-50360) soon in my 2000. I have always used the Toyota Long Life Red Coolant that I dilute 50/50 with distilled water. I know that Toyota switched over to the Super Long Life Pink coolant in 2002 or so...
Too bad that they took 2 months to tell you that they were not going to fulfill your radiator order. I would personally prefer to buy a radiator locally, but if it is packaged correctly then there should not be much of a problem with shipping it. Obviously, Serra Toyota of Decatur has shipped...
My 2000 LX has ~ 255K miles and the AHC has been flawless - knock on wood. I do partial AHC fluid exchanges fairly regularly and then a flush every few years. I like the ride much more than the 2005 LC that I had and hope to maintain it for another 250K miles.
Just went through the same thing with my 2000 with 250K miles here in Southern California. I replaced my battery a couple of months ago and went in for a smog check last month. I probably had only 200 miles on the new battery. I failed the OBD2/Catalyst part of the smog check. I have never had a...
I know that somebody has already mentioned this, but make sure that your spark plugs are properly tightened down. I just made a cross country trip and I had a spark plug back out on my way home. Had to replace a coil and have the damaged threads repaired with a Time-Sert.
I change my spark...
Was driving home on a road trip from St Louis to Southwen California and my LX470 broke down. The check engine light went on. I took off the plastic engine cover and could hear a loud “clacking” from the top end of the engine - near the oil cap. Having it towed to the dealer in Grand Junction...
Unfortunately, I have a trip that I have to take and needed to get my truck fixed immediately, so I had my mechanic change out the entire Brake Booster Assembly - part #4705060041. I am already back on the road.
Is there a much of a market for my old assembly? Have not had the time to see if...
Thanks. Not sure what would have happened if I was going 60 MPH or going down a steep grade.
It all happened within a mile or two, driving driving 25 MPH or so. I was in a residential area. The warning lights and an annoying alarm came on. The brakes worked fine. Hoping that it was just a bug...
I just had my brakes fail on my 2000 LX470 with 236,000 miles. I am the original owner and all maintenance has been done religiously. Southern California car its whole life, so no corrosion.
All of the lights came on, including (ABS, Brakes, VSC, etc.) and within a few minutes I had no brakes...
