Has the 80 series got much chance of getting traction with the HPP?

Nothing wrong with EV's, but they're being sold using the same mantra as Covid drugs (ie. that unless you get them you are going to die). They aren't being pushed with overwhelmingly positive messaging, and are totally focusing on the zero tailpipe emissions factor. I refused all Covid jabs, but...

Australia is now heavily under the pump to electrify everything, raising the electricity demand 10x over what it is now in the coming years, at the same time the shill of 'renewables' continues and big power stations get shut down. My workplace is next to a port from which boatloads of chinese...

No electrical or body parts - I think that's been clear from the start - just stopping/turning/driving - basically the bare essentials. There are more than enough 80's wrecked (at least here in Oz) to get electrical wiring looms but I'm aware many of the loom sections are NLA now.

Interior parts aren't required for stopping, turning, driving, though. You can still run an 80 series with no seats or trim lol The cost-benefit analysis for selecting parts to re-produce would be interesting to understand, but it also requires understanding of different markets (ie. how USA...

Remember the HPP does *not* include body parts - only engine, driveline, brakes, and I think electrical maybe as well.

I wonder in practicality how this will work as a lot of parts are going to be specific to a particular market and/or a particular 'driving configuration' ie LHD vs RHD. ie. Here in oz most landcruisers are diesel and we're a RHD country. Whereas in the USA most landcruisers are petrol and LHD...

If/when any 80 series parts get reproduced, how are we meant to find out about them and if interested subsequently order them if not in the USA? Will we have to provide 'proof' by way of VIN and order through a dealership (will or are any Australian Toyota dealerships being involved?)? I...

Much of the problem with reproducing long out of production parts is access to (a) the tooling and (b) the original engineering specs/drawings/plant/blueprints/etc. Toyota (here in Oz at least) has totally *suspended* ordering for 300 series LC's now due to supply issues and that will knock...

    Land Cruiser Heritage Parts Project

Remember the parts have to be for one of three things - driving, turning, or stopping. Toyota probably will not make any electrical parts or body parts under the HPP. And you will probably have to prove ownership by quoting VIN (that's chassis not Diesel - lol) to be able to order parts, and...
