I think the actual runs are longer, as they have run from the main line, to the relay, then to the bulbs, then through the ground wire.
Your proposed measurement of the voltage cuts right through the chase and will will give us an accurate idea of the voltage drop with over watt bulbs. Thank...
Why do you think that your 90/100 bulbs are street legal? In nearly every country overwatt bulbs are illegal, as the HIR conversion that many of us are running. By maintaining the proper focal point and filament length in overwatt or HIR bulbs we are minimizing any glare or other type of stray...
All of it matters, including wiring. Small wires cause more voltage drop than big wires, and incandescent bulbs are very sensitive to voltage drop, a 10% drop in voltage leads to an approximately 33% drop in output. When you go to higher wattage draw bulbs, you may see an increase in...
The HIR's have the same life as a stock bulb, the GE versions were rated at a 1000 hour life expectancy (same as a standard 9006).
The bulbs you posted a link to are not a HIR bulb, they do not have the coating on them. If you have a truck that takes the H4 bulbs, there are now slight...
The HIR lamp uses a proprietary reflective coating to help the filament stay hotter and hence put out more light than a regular incandescent bulb or halogen bulb. The design was originally developed by GE with Toshiba/Harrison making some improvements (the current bulbs). Current draw is...
Sorry but BULLCRAP. The HIR lamp draws the same current and puts out the same amount of heat as the stock 9006 bulb and has the same focal length and focal point resulting in an identical lighting pattern.
Read the FAQ, there are other sources for these bulbs, but you will pay more. You get to decide if it is worth waiting or you want to pay for getting them ASAP.
Try post #68, it's not like it hasn't been covered before.
Oh, welcome to mud. :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
No, but I have a framed layout of him from Playgirl holding a Hella 4000 in one hand and an HIR bulb in the other. :D :D :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
The reason he I cite him is that he has accurate information and understands what is going on. That and the fact that when you do a...
Finally, here is a great link from the crazy Suburu guys over on NASOIC. Take a look at the 9011 HIR bulb to see what it will look like. Remember, only one company makes the HIR bulbs, that is Toshiba/Harrison, so they will all look the same. It could be possible that Chevy is finally selling...
Here are some comments from Daniel Stern about manufactures "cheating" on the HIR bit.
"GE introduced the 9011 and 9012 (HIR1 and HIR2) bulbs in the late 1990s, and discontinued them approximately 18 months ago, though they still appear in the '03 GE catalogue. Several automakers got rather...
Sorry but these are not an HIR, these are 9011 non HIR bulb. How do I know? Before we did the first group buy, I went and personally checked these out in hopes of saving everyone nearly 50%. When you look at them you will see they look just like a 9005 (with the exception of the tabs) and...
There is no reason that the 9011 HIR can't be used continuously, as high beams are designed to be used that way. They do have a shorter rated life, 230 hours (they used to be 350) vs. 1000 for the 9012, but that is still far higher than overwatt bulbs. Also, if you look at an H1 bulb, which is...
Either you don't drive at night much, or Hella sent you some screwed up bulbs. You better pull them and send them back to hella asap because you have set a record for the life of those things. Maybe they could then reverse engineer the damm things to work from the ones you have. Myself, I...
Without commenting on the ethics and legality of running 9011 HIR bulbs (the high beam replacement for 9005 bulbs), it is important to clarify a couple of factual errors.
The 9011 HIR is a 65 watt bulb, not a 100 watt. The 100 watt bulbs are the crappy 9005 high watt replacements that last...
