Builds What's a Parts Guy to Do??

Onur, I need a fairly rust free body to move all my current FJ60 drivetrain, suspension, tires, brakes over to. Just saying, You know, if you need to get rid of an incomplete FJ60 or something.

Why all the mucking about with a fan resistor? It's not a common failure part, and every FJ6x that goes to the crusher has one...

So you're at the point I like to call "90% done, with only 90% to go".

I also need the rear pipe/muff assembly. Is it possible/practical to ship to Ohio?

Yes, there are a few different speedo gears available. Beno, is there a new boot for the release fork? Install it now, it's almost impossible to get it snapped into the BH hole in chassis.

61028 would be the correct factory installed size. That's a 10x28 bolt for those keeping score. But 10x30 is what shows up when ordering the latest EPC spec. Since the 10x28 isn't available anymore, a 10x25 is a good substitution (61025)

WTF are those end mani bolts? Look like acorn nuts? BTW, Mr. T will insist that a 61030 (M10x30) bolt is correct for the end mani bolts, but they are 1mm too long, so they crunch into the headbolt before the gasket is fully compressed. The better PN is 91651-61025 for the end manifold bolts...

The disadvantage to all studs is it makes re-doing the manifold later a big PITA. It's dead sexy on the engine stand, but very annoying when trying to slide the mani off 8 studs, and the 3 downpipe studs, while clearing the brake booster and PS pump.

Yes. Don't forget to install the M8 studs in the manifolds for the intake side plate (EGR/PCV plate). When installing the EGR deleted side plate, there are also 2 short bolts into the intake toward the rear that support the PCV tube and the manifold temp sensor. Be sure to get a new temp...

I thought I tried to get the long bolts for an H55 swap recently, and they were NLA? The idler shaft, thrust washers & stakenuts are in the rebuild kit coming from Georg.

That is actually a shim that sets total preload/play in the output shaft bearings. Use that same shim when reassembling and the preload should be very close to correct. from there it is easy to go up or down a PN to get correct preload Use the paper gasket, at least between the case halves...

Denso OE fit condenser is available from Rockauto for $125. Anybody thinking about it should get one while it's still available.

Rumor has it that medicine has discovered a preventive cure for kids. There is only one cure for Cruiser-itis: a radical cash-ectomy. Ironically, the eoccurence of kids often leads to a total cash-ectomy, which forcibly cures Cruiseritis.

BTW, something else that goes on the side cover bolt is a metal clip to hold a wire harness, mounted under the rear lower corner bolt. LMK if you need a pic...

Guesstimating the tork spec is not necessary. The Harribor Freight Torq wench does that automatically.:rimshot: Noted for posterity: the studs do NOT go in the corners. In later pics it appears to be corrected. Also visible in this pic is the hella over-torked side cover fasteners that have...

The claw nut disappeared in 7/80, so theoretically never made it onto FJ60. What's weird is the hole for the starter crank is in the lower valence on all FJ60, but the radiator is in the way, and there is no claw nut. My personal theory (never looked it up) is that some non-US trucks...

I spy a PS bracket laying on the floor. There are 2 ways to install that: 1. install bracket to block, install pump to bracket, bolt manifolds to head. 2. bolt manifold to head, bolt PS pump into bracket, install loaded bracket to engine block. There is one way it won't go together: install...
