FREE  Jerry Can and Spare Tire Carrier

Hello All, Bought a rig from mushroom (IKR!!! Lol!!) It had a spare tire rack and jerry can holder on it which drills into the tub. Shortly after receiving the rig I hit a bump, the clasps bent and failed, and the entire swing arm popped out and bent. The metal sleeve for the hinge pin...

To Invest or Not To Invest?!

I have had my '96 Taco since '99. It passed the frame recall, but the right rear shock ripped off with the attach bolt and chunk of frame while off road. Everything underneath is rusted out. It's just a matter of time before the springs crack off. Numerous cosmetic and mechanical issues. Driver...

    Shock Advice?

I am going to replace the shocks from the PO. It rides stiff now, so I would like something softer. I heard PROComp makes a stiffer riding shock. Mainly Road Driving with limited offroading. I have a 3" or 4" lift from the PO. Thanks for any help.

    Steering bearings/knuckles

I had one of you guys mentiona that in addition to replacing the manual steering the bearing and knuckles should be examined/considered to be replaced. What are the bearings and knuckles, and what to they do? I worked with the knuckle arms a little on the manual steering rebuild. They seem...

    Fuel Filter replacement schedule

How often are you guys replacing your fuel filters? Are you doing it by time or mileage? I have had the same ones on for the past 3 years, but have put less than 500 miles on my rig due to projects. Time to change out?

    Fuel and temperature gauge problems

Shortly after buying my FJ40 I had inaccurate readings on both my temp and fuel gauges. They both slowly go to Fuel/Full and temp/hot. I know the fuel is off because I know how much gas is in there. I know the temp is good because the problem exited before and after the radiator was replaced...

Process for Changing out the bell crank

One of you guys told me the bottom of the bell crank must be removed before the upper and guts are removed. I removed the bottom bolt, but have been banging away on the on the center arm with a pickle fork trying to get it to drop. Is this correct? Been at it for a while now. Thanks

What is the procedure for rebuilding the Center Arm...

I am attempting to remove the center arm of my '75 FJ, and could use a little advice. I removed the lid of the bell housing and the small plate underneath it. I also removed the bottom bolt. Do I use the pickle fork to knock the center arm off from the bottom? How do you get the guts of the...

    I was a Dumbass...

...And left my hood unlatched. It blew back into my windshield going 45 or 50 over a high rise bridge. Luckily no one was killed. I noticed my soft doors don't fit anymore. I am wondering if I need new hinges, or if I just cranked the windshield to far back when I put the dash back together...

I am noticing when I initially turn the ignition after the truck has been sitting the engine cranks, but never turns over. If I stopped trying to crank it, and then retry it the truck usually turns over. If I have been driving it and the engine is warm it starts on the first try. I always...

    Replacing the PO's Lift...

Aside from the steering my ride is fxxxing awful in regards to the suspension. Looks I have mystery springs which one of you mentioned looked extended, and without casters. The shocks are old Gas Adjust KYB's. I have no idea how to determine the lift because I am unable to find the original...

    Steering Restoration...

A couple of years ago you guys gave me some good advice. A few of you recommended power steering, but suggested I look downstream from the box before making that investment. I currently have: Removed the PO's relay rod, and purchased a new one to go on in its place due to a slight, but...

    Replacement Suspension?

Ok. I've given up trying to endure the PO's mystery suspension and lift kit. I'd like to have a suspension which is more forgiving than the one I have on now. My steering stabilizer is shot. My KYB Gas Adjust shocks are shot. And I've heard from some of you that it looks like I have over sized...
