What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Changed the gear oil in the diffs, fixed a coolant leak, drove around the block.....the long way.....

    carb (I think) problems

Going thru this myself with mine and a buddy is going thru this with his bronco. We both ran gas from a rusty tank and it bypassed the filter and got into the carb. I have done everything short of a rebuild, but the kit is coming this week. Without pulling the carb apart to get into the small...

    3 spd or 4 spd

Definitely 4 speed. I have the 4 speed with 3 speed transfer case combo and had to have my drive shaft shortened a bit, but it is a great combo.

    my new toy- ROTW

Very, very cool! I really gotta look into the painless kit for the smallblock. My wiring is a mess and it's getting old...starting to worry about the fire hazard.....:D

sea foam for carb & crank case

I have used Sea Foam for about 5 years, but not as often as their web site says to. I usually put about 1/3 to 1/2 in the crank case and the rest in the fuel tank. I go a couple hundred miles and then change the oil, I don't run it in there the whole time like the company says to. I think the...

    Chevy 350 Carburetor??

I've got a 71 with a q-jet. Love it in the rocks....has been very reliable. My buddy found a retired mechanic here in the San Diego area that rebuilds old carbs on the side. You take it off your rig, give it to him and he rebuilds it and gets it back to you. If you don't want to tackle the...

    She just leaks

Here is an option for you that might reduce the number of gaskets you need to replace and save a little time. As stated, sitting dries out your gaskets big time. One of my vehicles sat for over a year (busted drive shaft) and when repaired I changed the oil and all the good owner things. It...

    Builds ROTW- Ridgerunner's defunct Greenpig

Love the Pig, Brian! I am diligently working at aquiring my second 40 (my father-in-laws (RIP) '73 that was given to another family member at his passing, but it is sitting undriven for over a year in the driveway...yikes!), but a 55 is definitely in the books for the future. I absolutely...

my vacation project cooler and gas carrier

Awesome rack. I have been looking at trying to fab one myself. Didn't even think about using the spare tire mounts. I may look at mounting my spare on the roof someway or work around the tire in the back. I have three kids that ride in the back and don't have room for the spare back there...

    clutch no worky

My 71 was doing the same thing. It ended up being the slave cylinder, which is pretty much cake to change out. If bleeding doesn't work, check the internals of the slave cylinder or have someone listen for a "sucking" sound, for lack of better term, around the slave cylinder. Good luck!

    Fj40/prowler !saweeeeet!

I like it, but then again, I like the really bright oranges and yellows. I think they look great on Cruisers. My '71 40 is a really bright obnoxious yellow with most of the trim black. If YOU like it, go for it!

    Where to go from here...

Yep, motor oil is almost a religion for me, with Mobil 1 the lead deity. The problem with synthetics in older vehicles is, at operating temp, they run thinner. So, if you run 10-30 petrol base with no or minor leaks, with synthetics your minor leak will look severe and it may find a place to...

    FJ40 Towing

Hi Bruce, I believe I paid no more than $79 for it, but don't quote me on that, it may have been $49 (I'm kinda cheap so it wouldn't have been any more than $79). I also don't think the no paint saved me anything. If I remember right, they were on back order from the manufacturer and it would...

    FJ40 Towing

I have one that bolted in by Downey Off-Road. Receiver type, works well. When I called them and ordered it I had it sent without being painted. I then primed and painted it black. I don't care for the silver powder coat they use. I think this is the link....I hope it works anyway.....go to...

    Steel half doors......

The Pakistani ones also look great, probably way above my budget, though. Mike C., I will PM you for details, thanks much. Cdaniel, quick question, did you have to tig weld anything or was it cut, grind and shape regarding the doorskin? Thanks again!
