The problem is after driving the truck for 10 -15 minutes, long enough to get everything nice and warm, once I stop and kill it and try to start it again after about 15-20 minutes it is extremely hard to crank.
I have the factory exhaust header and intake manifold on the 40 but it has a Weber...
I have searched every combination possible. I am loooking at either 15" or 17" rims for a new set of wheels for the FJ. 15" has the cheaper tires but rim selection is slim. 17" seems to be the new popular size but offset is the other big problem. I have found a set of Eagle Alloys in 15x8 BS...
I replaced the blown slave cylinder a few weeks back and replace the clutch rod to the same lenght as the old one. The clutch has always engaged fine BUT its always at the top of the pedal. I would think this should be far more toward center of the clutch pedal travel. I also would think...
I just had my 40 resprayed and on the tear down one of the markers basixally fell apart and the other look pretty ragged. Looking at some of the online shops like Specter, Classiscruisers, JTOutfitters, and Cruisercorps, the prices for ech lights are absurd. Over $40 each is just stupid for a...
THe 1976 FJ40 goes to the paint and body shop on the 26th of this month. All of the rust and dents removed and a fresh coat of red paint with clear is going on. I have never been a fan of any spare tire carrier that mounts to the body, just to much weight for something like that. I would prefer...
I have found that mice have ate the wiring between the window frame to the wiring harness. There are two pig tails coming from the wiring harness with the same color wiring are these the same four wires going to the wiper motor. Light blue, light bule with red, light blue with black, and light...
I need a pair of front fenders for my 1976, FJ40. I don't care about a color just better than the ones I have. I am looking to start a complete painting middle of October.
I in the beginning the process of designing a custom roll cage for the 40. One big concern I have is that installing this might decrease the value of the 40 later if I ever decide to sell it. What is everyones thoughts about this.
The heater is finally working but the defroster hose collars (I guess that's what you call them) are either gone or almost useless. What can I fab up to replace the collars and hold the defrost hoses in the proper spots?? PVC??
The Odometer just broke on my 76 FJ40. The 10ths still roll over but its hung between 25499 and 25500.
I have read the threads about tearing it apart and replacing gears with old gears salvaged for other clusters, seems to solve a problem till that old gear gives up the ghost.
Is there anyplace...
Like the title says. I am looking for a set of 5 wheels for my 1976 FJ40.
I prefer a brushed or polished finish. Black would be fine also. I can refinish them reguardless. I prefer a revolver style set
My 1976 40 sat in a pasture not running for about 3 years. Field rats damaged a lot of wiring, and I have been chasing broken or chewed wires for about a month. The main ground was chewed in half along with wires under the hood. After reparing all broken wire and creating new ground wires it...
1976 FJ40 2f engine, all stock
1. Alternator is good, even replaced with a new one
2. replaced voltage regulator
3. All gauges work.
4. All lights, turn signals, brake, and backup work
Yet I am not getting any more than 12.16 amp from the back of the alternator. The gauge does show discharge...
Ok I have read several of the threads on this and I am still in the dark. Can someone please explain to me in detail how to do this. I was told this was a simple upgrade that is suppose to eliminate the problems with the alternator regulator thats on the 40's firewall.
After replacing the water pump I noticed a weep under the thermostat housing, the part that bolts to the block. The problem is those two bolts will not budge. The weep only starts at high rpms which is good. I am afraid of rounding off these bolts off. Any suggestions? Yes I have already sprayed...
I am trying to judge the interest in making these. I know I am going to make a set for my 40. I am talking to a good friend that specializes in metal welding and construction to create these. They will use the factory seat covers with snaps. The design will be the exact same as factory with the...
