I have searched every combination possible. I am loooking at either 15" or 17" rims for a new set of wheels for the FJ. 15" has the cheaper tires but rim selection is slim. 17" seems to be the new popular size but offset is the other big problem. I have found a set of Eagle Alloys in 15x8 BS 3.25 that will work but there HAS to be more out there. I have yet to find any 17's with that low of backspacing. Factory 15x6's are not an option for me. Thanks for any leads or help.

You can always run a spacer to get the offset right,I have a set of Mickey Thompson Classic II that fit my 40 perfect without any spacer I believe they are 17 x 10 or 9 wide.

Summit seems to have a lot of wheels available....

Should be correct center bore, but might need to run a 1/4" spacer. When it comes time in my build I think that's what I'm going for....

I have a set of 15" chrome centerlines that came on my cruiser. I don't want them if you're interested.

You cant use Taco or FLC rims on a 40. That is unless you use a spacer. I had to try it though and when I did my tires hit the springs at full turn each way. When I adjusted the stops out on the steering until they stopped hitting, my turn radius sucked. Without spacers they do not work.

Tim I am very interested in them and I will be in your area this weekend. I sent you a message.

17" tires are almost 50% more than 15". Does the future look like 15" tires will be phased out?

I'm not sure, I know demand for 15" rims has to be low since almost no new trucks have them that small. Wgat I don't understand is why the cost is higher for 17"? In my mind it's less rubber right???

I run 15's with a spacer. Nothing wrong with a spacer if it's properly torqued. 15's are being phased out, but in a lot of ways they're still the best size for 4x4's. If I were you I'd run 15s, for the most part you can still find the right size if you know where to look. Interco still has a lot of options in a 15 with a couple of tread patterns that don't beat the mess out of you on the street. My $.02. When you really can't get tires for 15s anymore (which in reality will still probably be a while because there is still a market for 15s for the older trucks) just pick up some new 17s and get tires for them. The money you'll save running your tires for you 15's will probably offset the cost of a new set of rims after you go through a couple of sets of tires.
