Hey Everyone,
I have a 9/72 FJ40 and I'm trying replace the clutch slave cylinder. The question I have is about the piece of metal for attaching the second slave bolt. Does that metal piece bolt into the ear that is protruding on the bell housing? Or do I need to unscrew that lower bolt...
I think that is supposed to seat itself flat against the slave face with a copper gasket in between. If you look at the Pedal Assembly and Hydraulic Lines tab here https://www.sor.com/cat018.sor#018a you'll see the gasket.
Following back up on this thread in the hopes that it helps someone out in the future. Went to go try out Redding's suggestion and quickly realized I had the parking brake handle pulled. Doh! I'm an idiot. I released that and suddenly had a lot less tension on the spring making it easier to...
I'm fixing up my parking brake assembly as it had been leaking oil all over the place. Finally putting it back together and I can't wrestle the compression cable back into it's seat. Is there a trick to this? Are newer cables easier to compress? Should I remove the cable completely and do on...
Hey Everyone,
Finally getting around to fixing the oil leak into the parking brake. I have a 9/72 FJ40 with the 3 speed tranny and transfer case. I have removed the drive shaft, castle nut, parking brake drum, shoes, backing plate and the rear bearing retainer. From searching I know to...
I finished it up this weekend. It's important to note that when I ran into the issue, my dizzy was close enough to being timed that the engine would run pretty well.
So what I did was take a sharpie and mark where the rotor was on the dizzy. As long as I didn't move the truck, I knew this is...
Yeah, I think I am almost certainly a tooth or two off. I'm going to attempt to pull it, turn the oil pump clockwise a bit, and then reseat it a tooth or two over while maintaining rotor position on the dizzy. I think I'm on the right path, was just looking for some confirmation. I appreciate...
Unfortunately it's not the hose. I'm able to lift up the hose while I attempt to time it, but it's the buckle that's contacting the block.
Moving the plug wires seems like an easy mechanical fix, but I'm worried about the day that it comes back to bite me since the cap is labeled with the...
Hey Everyone,
Yesterday I installed a new coil and Trollhole dizzy in my 9/72 FJ40 with the original F engine. I made sure to maintain a consistent rotor position and dizzy orientation so that it would be reasonably timed.
I got everything installed and she starts up and runs pretty well. I...
The nice thing about keeping the old carb is that your current linkage will work.
You didn't mention which dizzy you're going to use. If you go with the newer 2F dizzy, you may need ported vacuum on your carb. Depends on whether or not your current dizzy is vacauum advance or vacuum retard...
Your idle circuit issue could be due to a warped air horn on your carburetor. This is fairly common among the F engine carbs. As far as I understand, the horn warps and sucks in air along the connection to the carb bowl and kills the vacuum in the idle circuit. The main symptom of this is...
Do you have a column shifter? Or a floor shifter? If you go to a bench seat with a floor shifter you may have clearance issues.
FWIW, I have a 9/72 with stock bucket seats.
