    2000 lx470 no gears?

Sorry, I only look at Mud from time to time, you probably have already made a decision by now...but I personally would go Toyota remanufactured... https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/parts-list/2000-toyota-land_cruiser/power_train_chassis/transaxle_or_transmission_assy_gasket_kit_atm.html Three...

AHC issue after installing rear springs. (OME 2865s)

Rears from an 80 are another option. They are a bit lighter than stock non-AHC 100 springs from what I remember. That what I've been running for the past 70K miles or so. Rear 4x4 labs, homemade drawer, and fridge in the rear full time. You definitely want to research AHC pressure and...

    2000 lx470 no gears?

From what I remember it's a bad thrust washer or something like like. Not really anything that can be done... Not guaranteed to fail, just somewhat more likely. There is no full information of failure rates, but I've seen numbers like a 4% early failure rate from late 99 to early...

    2000 lx470 no gears?

Not sure why we're on page 2 here still discussing...everything you have described is a a typical trans failure in the 2000ish model. Perhaps would have expect a bit of whining noise preceding...and would kind of expect a bit of cement mixer gravel sound when putting into gear after the...

What's wrong with my A343F Transmission?

Checked location and you are in the south...that's too much for a trans rebuild. Look for another shop. Of course, it has been quite a few years since I dealt with this, but still fell that a bit much. I've run the full course of transmission "dealing with" on the A343F, so will give advice...

Dealing with shipping damage...Go Fast Superlite

So, final update as I now have a final resolution from Go Fast. Back in June I thought I had a resolution of full new fabric parts for tent, there was another delay in oversea shipments and so I kind of just ignored it for awhile. I asked for an update at the end of July and was contacted by...

Dealing with shipping damage...Go Fast Superlite

Well, time to give an update once again, because Old Dominion has summarily dismissed my claim... "Our investigation of your claim has been completed. Delivery was made without exception and no evidence was discovered in the course of our investigation which would indicate that the damage...

Dealing with shipping damage...Go Fast Superlite

I think it's just the method they landed on to get a lower cost wedge type tent. Wedge dictates hard top and bottom. Well for the most part, I'm sure you could engineer something with flex poles and soft , but that would cut down on ease of use and rigidity. But a design of canvas outer shell...

Dealing with shipping damage...Go Fast Superlite

Yeah, all the soft pieces(thick canvas top/bottom/sides...thinner material walls/ceiling/floor) are all interconnected/sewn together and basically the hard bottom and hard top are inserted into that fabric construction. Those soft pieces are meant to be user replaceable in case of damage or...

Dealing with shipping damage...Go Fast Superlite

Removed as It contained incorrect information...will update later. Further update with corrections. Apparently Old Dominion is unclear how their own claims process works. Old Dominion is directing people to contact Go Fast for them to make the claim. GFC's Old Dominion rep has told them that...

Dealing with shipping damage...Go Fast Superlite

Yeah, it's a permanent cover, doesn't affect waterproofness of sleeping area, but does allow water where it normally wouldn't really be unless patched. Shipping company called it "hidden damage claim" just their term for a claim for damage that could not be ascertained before unpackaging...AKA...

Dealing with shipping damage...Go Fast Superlite

So this is a Go Fast Campers Superlite RTT. This is the outer canvas cover(well all the soft parts are actually integrated into the tent, but yeah those are details that don't really matter). No box, thick plastic wrapped with 1" corrugated cardboard top and bottom. No extra protection on...

Dealing with shipping damage...Go Fast Superlite

Hey all, been quite a while since I posted on mud and I'm cross posting this on Exportal also, but thought I would solicit some advice from as many like minded folks as I could. Last Wednesday I received my GFC Superlite...super excited as you would expect. Looked over wrapped packaging and...

Amp Install Questions & Subwoofer Possibility

Quick glance on this thread...probably missed some important stuff, but @jammingator, should be able to fit amp in stock sub location if you are still wanting to go that route...I mounted a 750W power inverter there in mine... @katit if you find a sub that is somewhat close to fitting depth...

Help Needed Identifying Mystery Smell After Driving

Check where steering linkage goes into rack...above drivers CV joint. I had what I would consider similar smell(kept checking diffs) that was a seal leaking there, dripping onto CV, being flung on manifold and burning off...

Realized I had never posted anything to the pic thread. So here are a couple from Black Bear this past summer. Little bit of skidplate in there for good measure...

    Codertimt's LX build.

Seems like it's time for an update. Finally can say I have my LX where I envisioned it when this all started 6 years ago. Quite a few upgrades since last post, plus a bit of maintenance. Toyota Remanufactured Transmission Timing Belt Ebay Snorkel Rear ARB plus compressor obviously. AL skids...

Intermittent grinding noise and low whining? 2000 LC 172k miles

Yeah, sounds different than my symptoms. Fingers crossed for you. Any transfer case whine I've experienced I could always mitigate by pushing on the transfer case shifter...but perhaps that is also something different. Good luck.

Intermittent grinding noise and low whining? 2000 LC 172k miles

What gear are we talking about? All gears or are you going slow, barely in OD? A grindy/low roary noise in OD at low speeds, low rpms is when I first noticed something was up with my trans... Well I didn't so much know it was the transmission at that time, but in hindsight after it ate itself...

    Transmission Gone.....2000 LX

As a member of the failed transmission club, I would like to point out that for the failure we are talking about in our transmission this is not necessarily the case. On mine, the planetary assemble chewed itself up and it literally sounded like gravel in a cement mixer. I will also say...
