The two valves were approx $1,100 for installation on my LX. The pump itself makes up the difference. Get the bypass. Now that it is plug and play (no splicing of wires), it cannot be easier. A really clever solution to a terribly designed system.
Good Luck
Tim
Thanks for all of your advice. I sent an email to the service manager 2 days ago. I have not received a reply so I just sent an email to the owner today explaining what occurred. I am requesting a lifetime warranty for as long as I own the truck.
I will keep you posted.
Thanks again.
You bring up a good point about accelerated wear on the engine, SWUtah. I was not thinking in those terms to be honest. I was thinking more along the lines of engine failure within a certain timeframe.
I am not sure how low the oil got when driving home. I know that I poured about 3...
OK....final update.
I picked the truck up yesterday afternoon. New oil, filter, front pads, washed and cleaned underneath, and a 500 mile warranty. I was not looking to be punitive. I just wanted things to be made right, and to protect myself going forward.
What I do know is that if I was...
Ugh. I went to get it after they called saying it was ready. It was still dirty and had not been road tested. I asked for a written warranty on the motor. They said they put new pads on. I will check when I get home.
I was waiting at the dealer this morning as they pushed my truck into the bay. I watched the mechanic take off the oil filter and he immediately said that there were 2 gaskets on. Let's see how this is dealt with. I was very explicit in my direction. Oil all over the undercarriage and along...
I had AAA tow the truck to the dealer. I let the dealer know not to touch it unless I am present. I am fearful of them trying to dodge any issues that could point back to themselves. The oil cooler line has me concerned that it could be something else, not dealer related.
Thanks to all for...
Thank you for your comments.....I appreciate your assistance.
I think I can rule out the valve covers...the oil is on the bottom of the engine and I did not notice anything higher up. The fill cap is good, too. I would think the drain pan, if damaged, would have leaked right away, correct...
2005 LC. 150,000 miles.
I had my oil changed two weeks ago by the dealer. I have been at home the past two weeks and have not driven it all that much. Maybe 100 miles or so. Yesterday, I noticed a burning oil smell while driving. I also noticed longer brake time when coming to a stop. I...
Don't do it. I had a 96 80 and sold it. I drove my wife's 03 4 runner for a few months and called the guy that bought my 80 and tried to buy it back. I then bought an 06 LX. Got tired of it and drove my wife's 2011 4 Runner. Hated it and bought an 05 LC. The 4Runner is not nearly as...
I have read all the threads, but am still a little confused. Is Valvoline full synthetic 75w-90 gear oil OK to use in different and transfer case? 2005 LC.
Thanks
Tim
Yes, the bypass should fix this. It prevents the pump from operating. The tundra forum referenced in this thread has an extensive discussion on this topic. If you think you are having issues, get the bypass now.
