I have read all the threads, but am still a little confused. Is Valvoline full synthetic 75w-90 gear oil OK to use in different and transfer case? 2005 LC.

Thanks

Tim

I'm running m1 synthetic 75-90 ls in my diffs and t-case.

I replace Diff and Transfer with 75w-90. Back diff took 4 qts (4 bottles) and Transfer took 2qts (2 bottles). I had to use 15/16 socket (22mm didn't work). I have attached the pictures. 1st picture for diff. 2nd for transfer. Motive Power Fill is a must! (Less than $100 of eBay).

That power fill looks pretty slick. I ruined a pair of pants the first time I tried to fill a diff using a hand pump screwed on the top of an oil bottle. If I did this kind of stuff more than once every couple years I'd pick one up.

I did not buy any devices to fill the front diff, rear diff and transfer case. I used Mobil 1 synthetic for all of them. What I did is to open two bottle, combine the fluid into one bottle until it is full to the top. The use that bottle to fill the fluid by squeezing the fluid into the diff or transfer case. When you can't squeeze any more fluid, then add more fluid into that bottle, and repeat the process again. Mobil 1 bottle is somewhat pliable, so you can squeeze quite a bit of fluid out of it. I did not make any mess doing it this way. Hope this make sense and helps.
