I am looking to rebuild my fuel pump and need to track down the kit. Does anyone have the brand of pump, model number, and source for rebuild kits?
Much appreciated!
I have been looking to install air conditioning into my 80 and can't find a competent mechanic. I swapped the 1hd-ft into my 80 last fall and the engine I put in never had a/c on it. I will need a mechanic that has a little skill with machining since it's not an r/r job. All the shops that I've...
I think that would be the best option if you could find it. I didn't have any luck when I looked. I also didn't want to pay someone to bring it in for me. I will keep track of how the fuel consumption goes.
I put Bilsteins on my 80 about three months ago and love them. I'm running stock suspension and can't remember what the model of shocks I have are. Definate recomendation.
Thanks Biff,
I'm not trying to convince anybody to do this to save money.
For me, it's all the things I love about diesels. I reckon that the rest of the world uses them in cruisers for a good reason too.
In terms of saving mony, it's a lot like investing to me. I'm confident in a few...
Hey Romer,
That's partly a personal preferance. I have always loved the toque, efficiency, turbo, and "manlyness" of diesels. I ran heavy equipment, grooming the slopes at ski areas for a few years, and fell in love with diesels back then.
Oh yeah did I mention efficiency?!
I hope when...
Oh yeah, I spent another $900 on getting a vaccuum accumulator fabed up, having a flange on the tranny that was broken welded, heavy battery cables, a relay for the cold start hot box, a second battery box and battery a few swithces, and getting the timing reset.
I had to hound the wrecking yards in the U.K. Here is a correspondence with the wrecker I ended up using.
Thanks for your reply Steve. My mechanic tells me my list was shy of some critical bits and pieces. Would the price stand including these additional parts? Regards, Ryan.

Thanks for celebrating with me!
Yup, it's the 5-speed.
I wanted to run SVO but I have heard concerns with coking associated with indirect diesel injected motors. Right now I'm running Bio Diesel 100% Virgin source.
As soon as I figure out my attachments I will share more photos. Cheers.

Most of the wiring and gear does not work with the diesel. You would be welcome to anything I don't need. Transmission cooler etc. (I'm swapping for a 5-speed.)
Biff,
Yeah, when things settle down I'll try to put together all the info for you guys. I opted for the 1hd-ft. I think that 10-$12 range sounds right. Mine will be closer to the 16-$17 range but there's a lot of variables that could bring that down, especially if you do all the work. Good...
I am converting to diesel and will be selling my drive train. It has 120k on it and runs perfectly. It's from a '96 80 series so it's the 4.5 litre, 1fz-fe. A few have allready expressed interest when I said I would sell it for $900 not including shiping/ handling (Mud family price.) Should...
