    Anyone with Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor's?

I've been runnning them for about 10k miles. I'm pretty happy with them. It took the shop a while to balance then correctly, but they are fine now (though I have alot of weights on the rim). Previously I had stock size Revos (P rated, not LT) and I had three sidewall punctures (in Death...

    Dumb Recovery Strap Question

Super Strap? Since we're on the subject... Have any of you tried the Super Strap? http://www.superstrap.com/ It looks like a good idea beacuse you can shorten it to any length you need and you don't need shackels, hooks, etc. I was pretty convinced, but then in their video they show...

    Trailer wiring on a 99

There's also the Draw-tite Modulite. http://www.draw-tite.com/products/products/elec_mod_aboutmod.shtml http://www.draw-tite.com/products/products/elec_mod_modulite.shtml I used a Draw-tite wiring harness and it was an easy, clean install. I didn't go for the Modulite, because I really...

What stock size tires would you buy.

These were on my 100 when I bought it (stock size). They are nice on the road and probably ok for dirt roads or very mild trails, but I had a lot of sidewall issues. One thing to note is that the stock size is "P" rated and the larger ones are "LT" rated. I'm not sure if it make much...

    Odyssey PC1700 battery

Yes, it will fit with a spacer on the bottom. I went overkill and stuffed a Group 31 size AGM battery in, but that required some rewiring and a new hold-down clamp. See this thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=49370&highlight=pc1700 I would highly recommend a AGM sealed...

    12 Volt Heaters

Coleman makes a heater for use inside a car: SurvivalCat Emergency Preparedness Kit It puts out 800 BTUs. And they have others that put out 3000 BTUs. They are supposed to be safe because they use a catalytic reaction and don't have an open flame. Apparently they don't create much...

    GPS External Antenna Routing?

Bulkhead mount? How about a bulkhead mount antenna? It means drilling a hole and a permanent installation, but that could be a good thing. If you do a good job I don't think it would affect resale value. If you are using a laptop with your gps you can get a bulkhead mount gps receiver .

    Engel vs. Coleman

What's interesting to me about this Coleman is that they call it the "Stirling Power Cooler". A Stirling Engine can be used for referigeration. And can theoretically be very efficient without the need for a compressor refergerents, etc. I'm not sure that the Coleman is really powered by a...

    Engel vs. Coleman

Coleman Cooler/Freezer FYI: Coleman now makes a cooler/freezer too. Not a thermoelectric. Coleman Stirling Power Cooler Instruction Manual But it lists for $600! Haven't seen any reviews on it, but for that $$$ I'd go with a tried and true ARB, Engel, etc...

    Group-31 size battery in a '99 100?

Velcro Velcro sounds like a good idea. I just used some "Velcro Extreme" for something else and it seems like it would be strong enough.

    Group-31 size battery in a '99 100?

Yep I used two extra long industrial zip-ties and some double-stick tape. It's not going anywhere. I have some more pictures I can dig up if you are interested. Just got back from a three week roadtrip (Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Arches, Canyonland's White Rim Trail!, Natural Bridges...

    BFG AT vrs Bridgestone Revo

I've slashed the sidewall on two Revos. These were the P rated size, so I can't comment on the LT versions. Once was in Death Valley a few months ago and then last week on the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands, Utah. Both times I'm not sure which rock was the culprit. Now I'm faced with the...

Question about the door switches that control interior lights.

It is in the latch. With the rear hatch open you can close the latch with a stick (or a pen or something) and the lights will turn off. Be sure to open the latch with the interior handle before you close the door. This is a good trick if you want to leave your rear hatch open and not...

    battery

I just replaced my original Panasonic. I suggest replacing it with a Odyssey or Lifeline AGM sealed battery. An Odyssey PC1700 should fit with just a spacer underneath it. Make sure you get the one with the posts in the right place. For even more capacity you can replace it with a...

    Group-31 size battery in a '99 100?

Lifeline Group-31 Battery Installed I got the Lifeline battery in. It fits great and the LC turns over really well. I built a new hold-down from 1/4" steel and 3/4" square tubing as spacers. I extended the positive cable by removing the battery clamp from the starter cable/fuse...

    Group-31 size battery in a '99 100?

Followup First-off, thanks for all the comments... I ended up buying a Group-31 Lifeline AGM Marine starting battery. It was cheaper and had similar specs to the Odyssey. It was also in stock at a local battery store. Lineline seems to have a good reputation in the boating world. The...

    Group-31 size battery in a '99 100?

The Panasonic in my '99 100 is starting to fail, so it's time to look for a new battery. Has anyone managed to stuff a Group-31 size battery in the standard battery location? Odyssey has the PC2150. It's a Group-31 battery with great specs (on paper at least). It measures 13.0" L x 6.8"...
