    Gouged crank pulley

I pulled my crank pulley off to replace the timing cover gasket and seal. Crank pulley has some fairly significant gouging where it looks like something got trapped between it and the timing cover. The sealing surface is fine and the gouging is on the wet side of the seal so I'm planning on just...

    Vacuum advance e-clip size

While I had it off, I was cleaning up my distributor last night and managed to lose the e-clip on the end of the vacuum advance when it went shooting off across the room after it bounced off my glasses :) Anyone know what size it is? Shaft measures at 0.176 inches (4.47mm)--is that a 5mm...

    Clutch Help

Having a little issue with my 60. As I was slowing to a stop at a red light, my cruiser wouldn't come out of gear, started stumbling and died. Obvious culprit is the clutch not disengaging. I pumped the clutch a few times and it started just going straight to the floor. I popped the hood and (as...

    Dive when cornering

Most times when I sharply turn to the left my Cruiser dives pretty hard to the right--almost feels like the front-right tire is trying to fold under. I had trumped the problem up to worn out shocks but I just threw on a set of Bilsteins and it is still doing it. I'm pretty sure I figured out...

    Manifold to manifold torque

I'm about to bolt my exhaust and intake manifolds together for reinstall but I can't find a torque value in the manual. I found the manifold to head spec but not mani to mani. Anyone know what it is (and where you found it because it's bugging me that I couldn't find it )? Thanks

    BVSV Advice Please

I broke a nipple off of one BVSV while removing vacuum lines. Since it was the wrong color anyway (brown when it should be purple) I ordered a new one from cruiserparts and tried to install it today. I soaked the old one in PB Blaster and it broke free with no issue, and then started spinning...

    What is this number?

What is the significance of this number stamped into the skirt of the block/oil pan sealing surface? Mine reads 233333.

Found in oil pan; what is it?

While changing my oil pan gasket over the weekend I found this little piece of plastic in my pan. It is a little over 1/2" across and slightly red in color. Any ideas what it is? The only other stuff in the pan was small gobs of RTV that luckily never made it through the pump screen.

    RTH Dizzy install

I'm trying to restab my dizzy after changing the side cover gasket. It goes in just fine until there is only 1/4" left and it sticks there. I'm afraid to push on it too hard because I don't want to break it. Any suggestions?

    Crank pulley reinstall

I just pulled my crank pulley tonight in preparation for replacing the crank seal and timing cover gasket. Now I'm concerned about being able to get the thing back on. If I push it on as far as I can without resorting to the Persuader the crank nut won't catch any threads. I did a search and...

    Florida Wheeling?

I just found out I've got orders on the way and I "get" to move to the Emerald Coast area of Florida soon. I've been trying to get Bonnie up and running well enough to head up into the mountains here in Colorado and now it sounds like I won't have much time. Is there any wheeling in Florida at...

    I can't make it stop!!

I started out replacing these . . . and now my engine compartment looks like this . . . I'm still not quite done pulling things off either. I have a gasket set on the way and I'll be doing those too. If things keep going the way they have been, I'll be rebuilding the t-case before too...

    ARP Studs

I have considered using studs for the push rod cover when I change the gasket in the near future. As I flipped through ARP's catalog I saw this little note about using studs that mentions they should only be installed finger tight, not double nutted. When I rebuilt my front end recently I...

    Smog Pump too tight?

Since I already had my smog pump out I went ahead and opened it up to check the vanes. Vanes were fine so I put everything back together. With the the back plate reinstalled and the bolts "tightened" down to where they just contact the plate, the pulley spins freely. If I tighten the bolts to...

    Decode ID tag

Anyone know how to decode the bottom two lines on the VIN tag in the engine compartment? Obviously the Model line starts out with FJ60, but what does the LG-KA mean? I know part of the bottom line too, C is color, by searching Mud I found that TR is the interior color, no idea what the A is...

Opened the Block Drain and nothing came out

I'm about to replace radiator and heater hoses so I drained the rad. I figured while I'm at it I'd throw a block heater in so I tried to drain the block. Like the title says nothing came out. Any ideas?

    BVSV colors?

While I was replacing all my vacuum lines I broke one of the nipples off of this valve on my late 85 60. I'm pretty sure this is a BVSV. I've found them on SORs site but they have a few different colors. How do I know which one I need (I'm colorblind by the way )? I broke the top one...

    Clutch question

The clutch on my 60 has very little up-travel before it is fully engaged; it feels like the pedal only comes up about 1/2." It isn't really an issue on the road, just takes some getting familiar with. My big worry is that if I need to feather the clutch at all in an off-road situation I won't...

    Compression Number Help

I swapped plugs today and figured I'd do a compression check while everything was apart. I had a fairly big difference between a few of the cylinders so I went ahead and tested compression after squirting some oil in too. It had Bosch Platinum Plus plugs but I've always been told to avoid...
