I'm in need of info regarding 1980 HJ 45 cruiser. Are there any potential weak points I need to pay particular attention to while doing my inspection? What can I expect for fuel economy. it is a 6 cylinder diesel with I believe a 5 speed. Any other tid bits would be greatly appreciated...
Seems like in most cases you either spend the money up front on a well maintained documentable vehicle, or save money on something tired and spend the money slowly bringing it up to par. ( We all know what Cruiser parts cost) The difference is you now under it instead of wheeling or driveing...

I have the exact water spot on the lower perimeter of my headliner from both rear sliders around the back hatch. I found that the seal around the hatch was allowing water to run in and drip on the jack as well as into the opposite quarter panel. Remove the lower panels on both sides, remove...

My 96 has the exact problem as yours, starts at 50 under very light throttle disappears under acceleration or coast. Let me know if you figure this out, I'll do the same
The pressure swith on mine is just downstream of the receiver drier, which is located behind front bumper on drivers side. Have you checked the fuse and the AC relay.
Remember that these cooling systems use a pressure cap on the radiator. When a vehicle warms pressure builds in the system normally. When the pressure exceeds the rating of the radiator cap, coolant will flow into the overflow bottle. When checking for a bad HG we are looking for the...
Thought I'd introduce myself as I may become a regular to the board. The name is Matt and I presently have a 96 LC with 51K miles. I'm thinking of selling the hanger queen and moving into the 100 series of cruisers.
After driving a 99, it's evident that quietness and smoothness of ride is...
I read your post when you originally posted. Let's first try to deal with the problem your having when your truck shifts into overdrive. What you call sounding like a train.
If you take the time to do what I'm telling you, you may be able to diagnose this problem.
My 96 shifts into...
Thanks for your thoughts, my windshield is still original although that doesn't mean its not leaking. I'll get out the hose and go to work. I'll post what I find seems to be a common problem
I take the top of a Windex or similar type spray bottle place it in the resorvoir and spray into another container. I can remove approx. 7 oz. Does'nt get it all but you can refill run your LC and do it again. Once it's clean you can replace the 7oz every other oil change and it always stays...
If your heater core has even a small leak your windows will continually fog up. You may want to check and see if there is any dampness on your carpet near the core. MIght be worth a look.
I sold the old Grand Wagoneer after 15 years and 250,000 trouble free miles, and was forced to take the cruiser out in the rain. This truck has never even been to a mall, we refer to her as the hanger queen. I can hear it now!!!! Anyway it was really coming down here today in central Florida...
