    Possible recovery points

I think those would definitely be strong enough for being used as a winch point, but if you would be using them to snatch or tow off of I would use a bridle to connect the two points together. Glad to help you over the phone the other day, when this was posted I wondered if it was you that...

    Possible recovery points

How large of a bolt is it going to be using? I would be more comfortable with more bolts, or something that was through bolted instead of just being mounted on the bottom of a frame rail. -Alex

    Recovery points

It depends how you travel and what you are going to be doing, I have 3 rear recovery points because I end up in some less then perfect situations.:D If you ever need to run blocks off the rear, or winch yourself backwards, it is helpful to have more then one recovery point. -Alex

    Recovery points

How well is the hitch tied in? What about just using a receiver shackle type bracket. -Alex

    Recovery points

For something like a recovery point, I would have a professional welder do them. I can weld but I wouldn't touch trying to attach something as vital as that. -Alex

    Recovery points

Are you just going to be welding d ring tabs to a bumper? Stock tow hooks are usually underneath or below a frame rail. As long as the bumper is properly attached, and the recovery points are secured it shouldn't be a problem. -Alex

    DIY Snatch / KERR

You can pull the braids tighter by hand, but not all the way tight. yes you are going to stretch the fibers out some but you are also compressing the weave. If you look at a double braid rope under tension the strands elongate some but they also are pulled together. What I meant is that if...

    DIY Snatch / KERR

There are a few reasons why we use a double braid rope and not a 3 strand or other type of nylon rope for our Kinetic Recovery Ropes. -When you pull on double braid you are tightening the braids causing the rope to have a smaller diameter and larger length. In turn you are not stretching out...

Pull Pal? I thought that was your buddy who offers to dig you out?!?

Yes, we have used them and sold them for years. If you live in an area where anchor points are scarce they work great. It is essentially a giant spade that can dig into the ground and hold the weight of the truck. They are bulky but fold up fairly flat, if you have the space they are a great...

    Cheep 10,000 lb winch

Buy a quality used unit if you need to save money, having a nice warranty wont get you off the trail if it breaks while you are using it. -Alex

    Synthetic fairlead rollers?

True, I have seen people do stupid things with rope and recovery gear in general and break it. There are certain people that can use synthetic for years and never have a problem, others break it within a few months of buying it and can't understand why the rope broke on the pointy rock they just...

    Synthetic fairlead rollers?

Which type of rollers have you been using? While I agree that hawse fairleads are better for most applications using synthetic rollers can be very useful when you have an ARB bumper like the OP. If the rollers overlap in the corner then they wont pinch the rope. If they don't overlap then I...

    Overland Winch Test?

Yes the fibers originally came from the Netherlands, but DSM has had a factory in North Carolina for at least half a decade where many of the fibers are made today. Many of our lines still come from Europe because they can manufacture a product nobody in the US can. -Alex

    Viking Safety Thimble

Opie is correct, it all depends on how you hold your rope when it is spooling in. Master-Pull's method is to put one finger through the hook, or pinch it between two fingers. The large hooks we use are impossible to suck through a fairlead negating the need for a safety thimble, in my mind...

    Overland Winch Test?

Four Wheeler did a winch test recently, the results should be posted up soon. They tested some budget brand winches and some high quality ones too I believe. -Alex

We can do a discount if they call us up, but I haven't turned in our vendor app for MUD yet so until then I am not here to sell products. Instead I will help out the members over here make informed decisions. As was stated earlier the higher quality MP ropes like Superline and Superline XD do...

    synthetic winch cable info needed

There is alot of good information in this thread, as stated earlier we do have a few lines that are different then everyone elses on the market today- Superline and Superline XD. Both have been heated and pre stretched to give maximum strength in the smallest package possible. They do last...
